Overgrowth
I never sought salvation To be stricken and bound by the guilt Brought into life with the needs of a child Yet forced to balance as if walking a wire By the missing grace Of your trembling hands To strike me down In spite of what I am My only prayer is we could be as one Let wings be without the terms Another week goes by without seeing a shred of the sun Soaking in the words of a wisdom that can't be attained It should have been known I'd have to give up to get through And if it's so, as the pen puts to paper You'll cry alone in your paradise Build monuments to an empty life Gambled away each ounce by a roll of the dice My only prayer is we could just be done Every line thrown in only makes you more numb To crush with demons until I need it more Drag me down until I can't pass through the floor

Your stayed hand and pursed lips combine Leading your eyes to something I'm so ashamed to hide Use your fingernails Dig right through Sift through each facet of my self Force your fingers deeper Touch what won't free Your soft touch unearthing something so goddamn raw So fearful to face it alone Being lead by hand to deepest parts of these catacombs A gentle caress just consumes me Yet life still escapes from my grasp Can fractured words catch intention? Or will these dead notes just drag me down Speech escapes me If I could only beg for you That certain grace evading If only fate had a stake in this Lead me As my horror floods your empty heart Lead me As I completely break you apart Lead me Lead me

Consumed by what has been consumed The loss of the every ounce of you Compounding more just to get through the day Would you have fought if you'd have seen how they'd stay? Or is it fine enough just to circle around the drain? Handful after handful Just to fit in or simply fade out? A mind set to waste, a gift gone astray Sent peace out to pasture for a piece of the action A firm grip letting go Preparing yourself for your final prayer Used to be friend, now only have fallen Face down and cold and nobody to call it I wish I could have cried Just to match their streaming eyes Casting black clouds over tired crowds Just wanting to say goodbye Celebrate letting go by wanting to lose themselves Desiring humanity burned until the ash fills the urn A cycle so viciously spun With every mind turned numb No haven of any hope Just a poor excuse to cope That night you couldn't have even saved yourself Just make your family let go One day a flower will grow on your grave A sign there's no end to your decay

How dare you With a hand held to harm Drown yourself in a bottle just to forgive it all along Seeking a solace, just to ease the hole in your heart When was the only solution to be torn apart? The silence reminds me That no tie is this binding The silence reminds me That purity will never be Restored Or even brought back at all Yet at least the vacant hole Can't still tear her to the bone When you poison yourself, you're just poisoning the world To take your away your pain and force it on the ones who stayed My face may look like a reflection But my hands will act in opposition At least in death the pain will only come one more time
