This is the end of the story. The part that you don't want to hear. The heros are dead, the atmosphere burning, the narrative fragmented, words are disjointed. Where do we go from here? When all lasting visions fade to scenes of how we've failed? When emptiness supplants promises made to last? When the road to progress drops away, reveals itself as a cliff to dive from? I have decided to leave. But with every hour, each answer leads to more questions asked. At what point is departure a worthy path? And with silence cast, how far reaches the fire left in my wake? I see the color fading from your eyes. I concentrate on the end. When I was young, I believed that I'd be complete and one day I would see that life is beautiful. This calming belief, such an immature dream, as if time was a stream and peace its estuary. Yearned for release, hallucinating that the words of another could ease my frailty. Desperate to soothe the longing that hung from my bones like a skin, a wound, a sore, though finally closed, still burns. Simple meanings drawn from silence. Towards the edge of Sorrow's open arms. Love, a frozen flame. These words will be my undoing. Trust, and with it came a promise of loss. Selfish urges bind together flesh and hope to pierce and weather. Waste away, I'm breaking down. Who am I and how did this happen? Never thought I'd be this way. The ceiling's low, I'm growing taller. Each day seems to be still longer. No escape, there's no escape. Close my eyes, my head is pounding, searing knives that slice my skin. Every moment still worse than the last. "Fury, my friend, here we are again. You were never far away. Nothing's really changed. The sky is still the same. The same dead fixtures, a different name. Hate draws you in, wishing for an end. How I plotted and I schemed. Living a lie, failing though I try.
