I Climb Downhill
Inside throwing clocks so your time flies It passes all around you But one can't take a step With broken glass surrounding their feet Tired, bitter, you must be so tired Of short term consequence It always seems to go this way Of failing, you're a protege Time to wake up You must wake up Clear the counter Wipe the slate clean again Stumble through life Just one more day You can say that you're free and clear again Go to sleep again Something written on a page in a book It tried to warn you Until you make the change in your mind Your better years you'll leave behind I wish you'd just avert your gaze From the blue light of your world these days I'd scream into the ground at broken glass Until I'm out of breath: "My life" Hand of time Oh curse of mine Down this hill I seem to climb Of all the doors I just left closed I wish I'd had a go, but who knows? Instead I'll cozy up my quaint grave And wish I'd kept a piece that time saved Looking back from afar it seems so clear How ignorant entitlement It wore you as a fake veneer I long to try youth again, I spew nonsense It's me that I am pleading to A yearning I could start anew Hand of time Oh curse of mine Down this hill I seem to climb No longing to be Deep down in the sea Box of bones Eventually
