Shrivelling Lights
Inside this hollow house How can I keep myself together? Disembowelled Only sin in my tides Sun in my liver Salt in ancient soil Once I was petrichor and embers Cast off spark of night, fading, now But a wet match against the dark I carve my curses Into your oaken walls Exhaling night to shred the green To ashes, shred the green to dust Sage the memory of ceremonial Darkness, give me back My shadow heart Purify my reflection Within the melting ice Hollow out the light From this catacomb of awe Have we fallen Too far from heaven now? Then let us speak of dead things In the old language of cries Sleep is brief these days Like the breath of melting suns Stay with me to watch the waning world From the shelter of a cave For fire is nigh Nothing keeps me comfort Nothing but the memories of sin For seven days I never closed My third eye, as I pierced My horns into the moon The great abandoner Rip at m edges Burst the brim of ice Something within this bottomless well Is wriggling, awakening Unholy, unholy me

One ear to the ground One eye on your grave I’ve prayed for a sign So many times I have cursed the wind that howls Your evergreen lullaby How dare you sleep while I am damned To wander in this endless night? While the grave of all light Grows inside of me How dare you sleep? I have cursed you, Bleak shadow of the moon Bleak silhouette of gloom Lure of memory Furrows in wood and stone The scornful stare, a knife Of hope in my back Nothing left to lose As nothing will ever stop this nightmare From awakening Yet, how sweet their ruin tastes In all this bitterness The trees whisper ancient spells, Have they cursed me now? Oh, how heavy Our loneliness weighs on the valley, Don’t tell me You know my anguish Cruel cause of my madness Abandoning me Even now betraying me On the edge of the world On the edge of the fog I have cursed the wind that howls Your evergreen lullaby How dare you sleep while I am damned To wander in this endless night? While the grave of the only light Grows inside of me How dare you sleep? One ear to the ground One eye on your grave I’ve prayed for a sign But again was betrayed

Feels like the world is gone Warning signs not to look back The old town is gone Burns away like hope Here you go Following lost souls, Don’t you remember Who you were before? Leaving behind Yellow lights Again, a victim to The black mood of the moon Once again, witnessing A vision breaking, inside the mirror of his grief Gone too far this time Kissing the ground beneath their feet Forgiving the field and all its creatures But not his deterrent face Waiting for love Embodying all He is too proud to beg for Feels like the world is gone - forever lost - The old town is gone Burns away like hope Here you go - Abandoned one - Don’t you remember Who you were before they let you down? I am standing frozen I can see the body I bear Beside me - a blurred silhouette Of a small voice painting the hill I dive into the water Where silent waves burn like winter In my hands Trying to remember How it was to breathe the sky Chasing clouds and smoke Of a dream Of company by the lake

Ashen and grave My grief turns to rage It tears at my limbs And smothers my mind Commands my frantic heart To sing in blasphemy All that is left for me You never understood me You never understood why But the sky never derided you And you weren’t raised by the flames And have you ever dared to look down? Heard your name in the mouth of the chasm? Thought that below there could be hope For endlessly I have searched these grounds And all I’ve ever found was that something’s missing So, I’ve trained my eyes to see Through the veil of rising smoke I’ve learned the language of the damned Who whisper in the night Oh, can’t you hear? They’re calling me I feel there’s something I can yet give to this world As an ancient power awakens inside of me A scorching hunger, that sets my soul ablaze A languish for pain and death In the shadow of the flames I was crowned their master You say you don’t understand But you weren’t raised falling down Held up only by the taste of power Call me devil then Harbinger of despair But I never built this world of suffering I played but by the rules to make it burn brighter

Sounds of laughter in the air Passing as I choose my path I've been doing awful things again But I am over their pitiful stares I went out into the fog looking for solitude Then there you stood, like a mirage, A demon from an old hell Staring with burning eyes Unable to hurt me on my side (Chorus) Now you dwell in shadows Darker than my own Clinging to the hand of the cold The dead child of your shallow dream You chose this path You chose your pain I chose to give to you no more But I am not one to run away Yes, I’m still lonesome – but hardly as poor as you And here I am Still keeping you alive In my dreams I watch you Writhing - as I release you Over again - plunging the tenth Sword into your back I watch you dreaming, Lying there so peaceful, so quiet Lying in the dawn - Blending dream and truth - No, you couldn’t die When at night I still stoke your hand Piece of the broken things On an altar beside my bed Your shadow My lunacy Now you dwell in shadows Darker than my own Clinging to the hand of the cold The dead child of your shallow dream You chose this path You chose your pain I choose to give to you no more But I am not one to run away Yes, I’m still lonesome – but hardly as forlorn as you

The icicles soften, Still the lake holds its breath There are eyes and no eyes Where eyes should be A creature lies shrouded By a once white gown – Something has torn it apart, Something has eaten its heart My feet follow the circle Of stillness someone has planted Around the broken limbs – The bricks of the home of a swan I try to find my balance On the world blade's edge Between awe and horror – I am afraid it is tilting too fast With every step more warmth Seeps down my feet And I don’t recall the stiffness In my once white bones There are more hands In the woods now than birds – All crawling the ground, lurking For entrails to eat. The dusk swells like a prophecy Time has fled to the treetops - a looming, growling weight. I wait long hours – Yet the smell of blood won’t melt.
