Make way for the Molly Maguires They're drinkers, they're liars but they're men Make way for the Molly Maguires You'll never see the likes of them again Down the mines, no sunlight shines Those pits they're black as hell In modest style, they do their time It's Paddy's prison cell And they curse the day they've traveled so far Then drown their tears with a jar So Backs will break and muscles ache Down there there's no time to dream Of fields and farms, of woman's arms Just dig that bloody seam Though they drain their bodies underground Who'll dare to push them around So

Jack is a revolutionary He says he’ll not give up ‘Til every man and woman Has a decent life setup He’ll raise gun against tyranny Where air it lifts its head And he’ll cut you down upon the ground If you say the cause is dead Praise the ones who face oppression, Praise the ones who dare to fight! They gave their life for freedom and shall be hailed both day and night! Be of god or of the devil, if they come, bring guns and pikes, cause the likes of them are fierce and they will fight until they die. He’s a long way from his home land In this tropical paradise But still he hears the calling To fight for what is right. And when he leaves this mortal coil And says his proud farewell He’ll raise his fists to anyone Be they in heaven or in hell. Praise the ones who face oppression, Praise the ones who dare to fight! They gave their life for freedom and shall be hailed both day and night! Be of god or of the devil, if they come, bring guns and pikes, cause the likes of them are fierce and they will fight until they die. Get up outta that you impudent brat and let the man sit down He gave his life to freedom and to keepin’ taxes down. And if the king comes callin a looking for his gold He’ll send him off a packing like in the days of old Praise the ones who face oppression, Praise the ones who dare to fight! They gave their life for freedom and shall be hailed both day and night! Be of god or of the devil, if they come, bring guns and pikes, cause the likes of them are fierce and they will fight until they die. Praise the ones who face oppression, Praise the ones who dare to fight! They gave their life for freedom and shall be hailed both day and night! Be of god or of the devil, if they come, bring guns and pikes, cause the likes of them are fierce and they will fight until they die.

Plague and death around us We pray to the gods and goddess, we all cry For the sake of all our lives The green man told us late at night That all we have to do is to set the king on fire To pray is not enough! We need action, said the green man Hark brothers and sisters, we need your fists united! To pray is not enough! We need action, said the green man Hark brothers and sisters, we need your fists united! It's time for us to fight, to be as one, together And brave, we need to stand up and raise our voice with pride! It's time for us to fight, to be as one, together And brave, we need to stand up and raise our voice with pride!
I sat within the valley green I sat there with my true love My sad heart strove the two between The old love and the new one The old for her the new that made me Think on Ireland dearly While the soft wind blew down the glen And it shook the golden barley T'was hard the woeful words to frame T'was worse the tide that bound us But harder still to bear the shame Of foreign chains around us And so I said the mountain glen I'll seek at morning early And join the bold united men While soft wind shakes the barley While sad I kissed away her tears My fond arms 'round her flinging When a foe man's shot burst on our ears From out the wild wood ringing And a bullet pierced my true love's side A life so young spring early And on my breast in blood she died While soft wind shakes the barley And blood for blood without remorse I've taken at Oulart hollow I've lain my true love's clay like corpse Where I full soon will follow Around her grave I've wandered drear Noon, night, and morning early With a breaking heart when ever I hear The wind that shakes the barley

In Newry town I was bred and born In Stephen Green now I lie in scorn I served my time at the saddler's trade I always was I always was a roving blade At seventeen I took a wife I loved her dearer than I loved my life And so to keep her both fine and gay I went out robbing I went out robbing on the king's highway I never robbed a poor man yet Not lately cause anyone to fret But I have robbed lords and ladies fine I carried the gold home I carried the gold to my heart's delight I robbed Lord Baldwin, I do declare And Lady Manswell up in Grovenors Square I closed my shutters and bade them good night I carried the gold home to my heart's delight I carried the gold home to my heart's delight To Covent Garden I made my way With my dear wife for to see the play The Fielding's men there did me pursue And I was taken by that cursed crew Oh I was taken by that cursed crew My father cried, "Oh my darling son" My wife, she cried for she'd be undone My mother tore her gray locks and cried It's in the cradle It's in the cradle I should have die When I am dead, I want for my grave A flashy funeral pray let me have Six highwaymen for to carry me Oh give them broadswords Give them broadswords and liberty When I am dead, I want for my grave A flashy funeral pray let me have Six highwaymen for to carry me Oh give them broadswords and liberty Oh give them broadswords and liberty Six pretty maidens to bear my pall Give them white garlands and ribbons all And when I'm dead, they will speak the truth He was a wild and a wicked youth He was a wild and a wicked youth Six pretty maidens to bear my pall Give them white garlands and ribbons all And when I'm dead, they will speak the truth He was a wild and He was a wild and a wicked youth

I'll tell you a story that happened to me One day as I went down to Youghal by the sea The Sun it was bright and the day is was warm Says I an auld pint woudn't do me no harm I went in an I called for a bottle of stout Says the barman I'm sorry the beer is sould out Try whiskey or Paddy ten years in the wood Says I I'll try cider I've heard that it's good O never, O never, O never again If I live to hundred or a hundred and ten I fell to the floor and I coudn't get up After drinking a pint of old Jaysus Jump Up After drinkin' a quart I went out to the yard Where I met up with Brophy the big local guard Come here to me boy don't you know I'm the law Well, I up with me fist and I shattered his jaw We fell to the floor and we couldn't get up But it wasn't me kissed his t'was the Jaysus Jump up And the next thing I met down in Youghal by the sea Was a poor man on crutches and says he to me O never, O never, O never again If I live to hundred or a hundred and ten I fell to the floor and I coudn't get up After drinking a pint of old Jaysus Jump Up I'm afraid of me life I'll be hit by a car Won't you help me across to the Celtic Knot Bar? After downing a quart of that cider so sweet He threw down his crutches and danced on his feet I heard of a lad who forgot his own name He was clever when younger, the locals explained His name is was Fagan, he'd swear it was Flynn That Jaysus Jump Up fairly done his head in O never, O never, O never again If I live to hundred or a hundred and ten I fell to the floor and I coudn't get up After drinking a pint of old Jaysus Jump Up So if ever you go down to Youghal by the sea Stay out of the pub and please take it from me If you want to stay sane don't you dare take a sup Of that devil drink cider called Jaysus Jump Up O never, O never, O never again If I live to hundred or a hundred and ten I fell to the floor and I coudn't get up After drinking a pint of old Jaysus Jump Up

It has been told about a man A captain turned a king Who lead the realm towards the doom Spreading the disease He brought a sea of ignorance Of lies and tiranny All on behalf of the holy book Of God and family Vile and barren are his seed Demented, lunatics Pillagers, false, plunderes Forged on villainy In spite his speech's absurdity Numb his crowd agreed Nothing but a herd they were Puppets on the strings In darkness born and bred Mental slavery, an obscure creed Refusing all realities The sheeple rode together Their captain was so proud He sent the herd to death Denying the pestilence all around I've made a vow to spread the pest Said once the rotten king My army crawls from east to west As once in hamelin The shinning flute I'll play and bring My faithful marching rats They'll rise and send death to my kin By twistting truth and facts In darkness born and bred Mental slavery, an obscure creed Refusing all realities The sheeple rode together Their captain was so proud He sent the herd to death Denying the pestilence all around The sheeple rode together Their captain was so proud He sent the herd to death Denying the pestilence all around The sheeple rode together Their captain was so proud He sent the herd to death Denying the pestilence all around While the pestilence was around While the pestilence was around
