In the Shadow of a Mountain
In the springtime when the ice melts Look at the houses oh so calm A fair village lies beyond the hills Where the sun's about to rise Villagers happy faced nobody cries Except when the trolls come everyone Dies We put on our warpaint and sharpen our spears Prepairing to ride and to spread fear On the horizon we begin our march Down through the forest and through the marsh Farmers in the fields Flee in fright The vilage now lies in our sights They close up the town and put up barracades But wooden sticks wont stand in our way The gates get rammed And the splinters fly high Flaming arrows blot out the sky Roofs set ablaze and the women try and run The bloody massacre has only begun We unleash the horde upon the crowd The howls of the elderly fill the air Local church gets burnt to the ground The children cry (as we eat them) We've now taken half of the city The vilage up yonder no longer looks pretty Bones of the innocent stacked in a pile The leftover children cooked over fires Swinging our hammers smashing their skulls Eating their horses out of their stalls They try to run but we know they can't hide Singing our trollsong as we ride Now we are in the town tearing up the street hooves of our warpigs crush all that is weak Fire and Ash Pollute the air Blood stains the ground but we dont care The houses still burning, the childen make haste Running over the bridge to avoid thier fate But from under the planks we appear and pound Crushing their bodies into the ground As we leave their villages with our slaves and gold A glorious tale now to be told Of the trolls from north and merciless raids When you hear their battle cries be afraid Swinging our hammers smashing their skulls Eating their horses out of their stalls They try to run but they know they can't hide Singing our trollsong as we ride

From the thrash of blinding snow returns the bearers of steel Arriving at threshold of their ances-tral domain A sight awaits that stops their frozen breath..... Ruins, ruins from valley to hills Shadowed mountains weep as the smoke clouds their image Embers the remains of their homeland Destroyed by forces unknown witness to misery The men take up arms once more As a wandering king informs them Of a beast horrific and merciless Weary though they were, they swore to fight once more Truding onward with courage melting to hatred By lead of the scheming count, whose heart elsewhere sought Corralling them blindly to demise With promise of riches beyond compare They Traversed into depths they would not dare He sent the men -into the dark abyss- The men Took up arms Again For a wandering king misled them As the beasts were horrific and merciless Weary though they were, they swore to fight once more Trudging onward with hatred turning to cold death Before they could grab the Shiny elfin gold From the center of the mountain Came beasts and horror untold They set upon the doomed band of men Their clubs and axes, let htem know but the one who reached the riches was count reginald No escape All are doomed here Good mans blood is spilt All save reginald First to fall was of young blood Oh few would survive Zigur the bard lost his wits And in fright he fled outside Screaming for vengeance at the treacherous count The last of brave men gave chase But the beasts had overwhelmed them I'm sure they savored the Taste Vision fading all are dead here Frostbite holding Saga ending

You have Long kept the Truth You're a man of the sword the Great among this land Your are a son of mine, Fierce and Proud many trolls slain by your hand Murdered by a traitor Alien to me False promises lined his lips He came for gold, Fled into the night While the sons of the gods would stand and fight. Can you hear the call of the Gjallahorn The burning pride within your hear For few of this age have come to hear The voice of the ancient heathen blood Valkyries Ride to bring you back home with your ancestors; awaiting your arrival Long have we had to prepare your seat for the feast at the table of the gods of old Odin at his throne in the hall of valhalla bids you welcome to these holy grounds Lay down your sword Take up your horn And partake the sacred mead of asgard Can you hear the sound of the Gjalarhorn The burning pride within your hearts For few of this age have come to hear The voice of the ancient heathen blood

This ancient mountain is tall and black shadow draws ancient and cold My men and I have “journeyed forth” But alas, the trail has grown old My father set out ere the winter came, and naught of his travels we learned And spring has come and gone again yet never did we see his return Many men have followed to learn where father had gone with prickled necks we venture forth Into the Shadow of a Mountain! The journey here has been cruel and fierce Forward through sun, snow and sleet Through every season we have come to this place' to learn of my kinsmens sad fate deep within this ice-scorned place a crack that is cold as night Deep in this craig on mountains-side my father's body locked in ice To this place I have come at last To learn of that evil truth His life has been taken from me and with it has gone my youth Some enemy has sundered his limbs left his body a husk Some enemy has torn him piece from piece they left him to die in the dusk I cry to the Gods, the all-powerful ones who surely must witness my pain I cry to the Gods of the wind and the sea, "Now, give me my enemy's name!" Suddenly, revealed to me Askew-ed from vision, a shrine in the snow Runes laid in stone tell of ethereal being "I am Skadhi, and this is my home." "Skadhi," I cry to the wind! "Dweller of old Thrymsheim! Skadhi, queen of the frozen mount! I beg for my enemy's name!"

A mournful horn sounds a deathly call A lone ship sails back to the fjords I know my father dines in Odin's hall Feasting above with heroes of old Borne from the ship and carried high His face as white as the snow Sword-wounds cleaned and dried Four men bear his body. His bearded face is calm and proud His jaw is firm and eyes open wide His warriors hold his body high still and cold. Still and cold! On his chest his ancient sword Gleaming even under the clouds Taken long ago from dragon's hoard. Plundered from the ancient caves. His sea-steed is pushed off from the sand Flaming, into the salty brine. The ravens circle overhead Calling out their croaking cry. The smoke coils up into the snowy clouds Blowing back to our ancestral shores Where I stand holding my fathers sword. My ancient sword! The ships once again prepare to sail The men have stocked with weapons of war Axes and shields, helms and spears And me with my ancestral blade. We will sail to the lands of our foes Right to the place where my father fell And for his death we'll make them pay, Send triple our number down to Hell. Gather steel and raise your head Let forth your battle yell And come my brothers, join us On this warhellride! Warhellride!

Our footsteps echo through caverns Our war cries heard from afar Forests torn asunder The ground stained red from thier blood The light off our armour is gleaming Our fire has burned all in wake The drawbridge lays in splinters We now make our way through the hold There lies The spiral staircase Which leads to the throne of my betrayer My sword impatient in my hand Gods praise me when I cut off his head The castle falls Silent The wind can be heard in the halls His head held up for all those to see The battle has been declared ours With Sword still in hand and treasure in tows We make our way back to the shore i have lived up to my family name At last we are going home

The wind swept cold across my face as I crossed the mighty sea The sound of laughter from man and gull was the theme to our voyage Onward we sail through sun and storm to reach the foreign lands The oarsman row, whilst the kettle drum banged to the rhythm of the sea The stars guide our way through the mist and the fog like the old witch said before The boats dragonhead cuts through the dark as we sail closer to home Bleagh Pillaging all that they have Taking from woman and child The priests cry in pain on the ground they lay slain Whilst the dragons breath devours the town Trinkets of silver and gold Now burden our longships hold More work to be done Raise your oars to the sun As we fly from whence we are borne All signs of land now fade from us But we know our way by the stars No sword or squall can make us fear For our pride and Thors hammer are clear The lightning that leads our way Which has done for thousands of years The rains has eternally fallen njords wrath unending* Pillaging all that they have Taking from woman and child The priests cry in pain on the ground they lay slain Whilst the dragons breath devours the town Trinkets of silver and gold Now burden our longships hold More work to be done Raise your oars to the sun As we fly from whence we are borne

Brothers now dead and gone Killed by weaklings, think they've won We will avenge your deaths May they enjoy their final breath Grab your axes, make them dead Cut their brains out of their heads Eat their hearts and shred their bones Pay no heed to their dying moans Burn off their bones and fat Stomp their bodies flat Rip them apart with your might We will eat well tonight They think that they have won But the battle has just begun Spare as much strength as you can give Let them know the trolls still live! Retribution blood repaid They had seen their final day Used our Tools and made em Dead Bashed their brains out of their heads Grabbed our axes, made em dead Pulled their brains out from their heads Ate their hearts and snapped their bones Payed no heed to their dying moans Eyes gouged out, lifeforce spilt The forest burns as nature willed The end has come, the rush is gone And yet our life continues on though they thought they could have won Before the battle had begun We gave them all that we could give. We let them know that we still live
