The Dead City Blueprint
Turn your back and head off homeward You don't need to see me die again The elusive fading stranger over winter's fields And no searchlights could lure you there And I won't lay down And I won't stay around for then There's no better way to save you And I than to kill the sound In that moment you should erase That stain from your life Or they'll hunt you down Our solitary witness from our early inspired days When the air was once alight With tales of my unsung hero Now it feels like the days won't end "and I won't you down I won't let you down again"

Dare we ride on again? Beneath the wounds a sleeping sun And there you'd fly on a whim From a future that was never ours Would you pull me away Through the stale light I renew, you replace But I knew you would forsake it all I proceed, you erase Coiled within the shadow of your master That's where I had to watch you fall Hopeless - fearless Dare we ride on again?

We've been drifting afar Towards the waning sun & its vengeful glow Never stopped tom see it, to feel it For too many years they've been Strangling your dreams & denying your hopes To unravel the real me We need reasons - reasons Sinking below when you're out of your depth And there's nobody home It stops you breathing Will stop you breathing - breathing Stay - if time no longer heals us It will make things better between us Change - flooding into the light of the room Edging closer, close to the precipice ... but you'll never know just how much it feeds me Hanging our pains for the few of them As if we were never there Betraying your ghosts Out circling round their long dead hosts Of stern deceivers, terminal believers Redeemers Now & then we'll heal to start the pains again

Welcome the light, you've said your goodbyes Give it chance - give it time It's a long vast winter, & they can only oblige Run along - run inside Always remember that... Death & his daughters, they lurk in all corners Of your darkest recesses far beyond your life's borders When they claim your name you shan't slip astray Pry a nervous smile, bid farewell to the old days With a dismissive glance towards their ghosts by the doorways They never give up. it's never enough Welcome the light, you've said your goodbyes Give it chance - give it time It's a long vast winter, & they can only oblige Run along - run inside Always remember that... Beyond a moral flicker we are nothing but hollow Heading straight for a grave to superfluous fanfare From the joysto the blues, it cares nothing for you I sweep back her hair for in my mind she's no older I let go of her hand because her fingers grew cold & they mock from afar how worthless we are Sail our glorious voyage where the red rivers flow Faces pressed against the windows where the neon once glowed And the call won't be long, as the parade passes on Our spark is extinguished as the light is resplendent Keep on gasping for air as the cold air gets thicker Witness all that I am, but you won't understand

As I cave in the strangers rise I pulled you in - derailed reflection, overdue And only you can make this right To transcend again, to be the light To another life... so far out of limits Beneath the drowning days is a quicker end Will you submit, or will I relent Throw all you feel and all you fear Into a great unknown with your decaying years And while we're here Why can't we get along? Why can't you let it be? I'd lift you up amongst the stars while I'd descend The inspired deception is that you & only you Could make things right, if you'd return again to life

Greater things which helped us cling to life Have long since passed, rendered numb devoid of meaning When it severs, can we ever realyy comprehend How undone we are, dissolving through those aminous skies To where it all blacked out as your ghosts were cauterised Deep, consuming seas - & I was struggling to pretend So when you're found, will you take a bow for causing all of this? You know you let us down, & now we're caught Caught in a rift The words were worn as the days grew long Clearly we lost our way, with the scars forever deepening Carving apathy, to a closure I lament Through winter blooms a golden hell & then you dug your grave because you thought the grass was greener there Without reasoning, & I know you won't relent

Born aimless Hail turmail So potent, yet perfect There's no pain when the rains come & the deluge washed away Our future A lost space where the days rot & the years go astray The same No regrets, no , no regrets Until we reach an end & if you contest then you'll be the next & the flames will roar again Sad strangers - indifferent. Limp vessels - oncе vibrant It's all true - I knew from your eyеs it wasn't you Anymore Until we reach an end
