That which resides in the roots of a dying tree Clings to life, threatens to rot, destiny Not from light, drowns from the ocean within Inhales the stars, swallows the sea Stars, exhaled, hang themselves over the weak Crumbling earth closes in and nothing can leave Shower of light, ashes returning to flame Gathering of life yearning to remain Legions of the wretched awaken To drag the risen back toward the grave Steel resolve will not be forsaken Upholds the promise that was made Approaching the void, twilight Encroaching upon this sacred ground The incantation resonates The final oath resounds Standing alone The passage wide open Spirit bound by flesh and bone So easily broken The crucible of being The pinnacle of seeing One dozen steps of stone Reality Bleeding Universe Fleeting The chasm beckons And the pendulum sways The courage returns And the pendulum stays Consummate the portal The sacred singularity Reach the destination that has never been Return to where it all began Doomed and blessed to live and die again
