Cycle of Rot
The coming of death Paraded in colors Yellow, brown, red Path we all must follow World gets darker by the minute Weakening body and spirit Air grows cold, sharp and thin Heartbeat slows, withering skin Born to die Live on borrowed time Blink of an eye Warmth of life fading away Onset process of slow decay Decomposing flesh and bone Providing maggots a new home Into the soil sinks the blood Serving the needing a brimming cup Even the biggest tree must fall End of one, end of all Burned to ashes swept by the sea Drenched by rain, dried by light beams Nothing lasts The way of all flesh Life's just a breath Metal corrodes claimed by rust Overgrown taken by dust Swallowed by swamps, flushed by the sea Away, away we all must be Forest forlorn empty and silent Critters crawling crows flying Life's a journey death not eternal Shape of existence repeating circle Shadows aren't monsters But a welcome blanket Lean on this tree trunk Until it's a casket
