As the Osage Sings
This place was all The trees they sing Choruses of pain echo All around me As I step into This oaken frontier I weep For the lost woodland souls The undergrowth overtakes the once thriving old woods And as I ponder Man's footprint it can be felt deep into this ancient grove I'm lost, as I fear we all are But there's always hope The folly of man Are we too far gone, unable to turn back? Or can we all rediscover this wondrous beauty? Is this our legacy? If all we leave behind Is this charred oak Then aren't we paragons of ruination?

It's all entrenching This verdant canopy Falls inward beguiling me A frantic rivulet Rages on as I observe Waves crash Mesmerizing and holding my gaze Chaos turns to everlasting reverence I become one with the barreling current Fall… Fall… Fall… All I can feel is the water in my lungs And as I descend into the madness Crushing depths bombard me Cascading cataclysms No semblance of hope in sight Bewildered, battered, and broken All hope escapes from me The river claims my body for all eternity [The River] Come child and give your life to the Mad River

I awoke, the river by my side And as the waves went by I heard a melody Through the thicket I went on Following the sound And I came upon an open grove Laying before me was a fallen dryad Her sisters stood above, asking me to sing Gaia calls you home Into eternity Fall softly into the final sleep [Dance of the Sisters]

And now sorrow fills me Celebration turned to pain For the loss of all Countless massacres eradicate yet we are cognizant and on we go And on we go To the inevitable And yet they sing… An everlasting dream of endless verdancy To live in harmony and hold our own as we leave There once was endless hope And vast humility It's all we've left to learn For the peace that we yearn

These woods so hopeful For the life offered unabated While the kings fail to play god Give ear and hear The anguish of the wilds As the Osage Sings on… So why are we the only ones who listen and hear Gaia's call?
