In Hope of Eternal Life
I lie here As dead as the leaves Waiting for the frost of winter I whisper dying verse the chilled wind carries them away I wonder If they’ll ever be heard With an existence such as this What is there to thank God for I’ve yet to see a man Die wearing a smile And I don’t understand why Mourners walk slow Through their Solemn fields Grey grasses sway As the sun rests My only request was to be left alone

When you live forever Pain is just a shadow In the corner of your eye Follow it to nothing I have no faith In fate I have seen a thousand versions of you I have seen a thousand deaths too The feeling of wind Doesn’t mean a thing When you’re older than the air itself You could bury me alive And the earth would rot around me And I would be there To whisper your destiny You seek forever While I seek an end Your tears dry and fade While mine fall forever You weep for yourself I weep for you

Writhing in my shame Even my shadow is gaunt These faded cries Fallen upon deaf ears Can you infer eternity From the rising sun? Does my eye lie to me As I look upon the dawn? The tears that fall Never land The thoughts of pain Never end I cry alone Life; my mistake If I go on Nothing will change How did it come to this As I fade towards infinity Dying, the joy of life Flesh but another passage On the way to eternal truth A guiding light Beckons from one soul to another Seeking the ceaseless flame In some distant memory… The candle is lit I step inside The endless fire The painless flame

The last leaves fall As I trip in to my grave The power Grips me Destined to shiver In the storm of ages As my soul fades, the crystals form Form… For all time I shall die For all time, I shall die Frozen in time as the world passes me by Free from pain and free from woe A fixture in the forest of time Never again will I see the dawn My eyes’ gaze opaque and endless A mound beneath the snow Kneeling at the power of winter The sun on my skin Doesn’t feel the same as it would to you Warmth and cold The same

My own heaven bathed in tears Even a life of sorrow Would beg for another day But I would call it mercy To be granted one day less Or so my pain would say If it had but the words to speak What can I do For just a moment of reprieve To silence the noise And fatigue To find comfort For a soul That has never known calm I would not die In the shadow of a glorious light From a lifetime All alone

Tears well But never fall The grin that bear, But a suit of armor How long can this last, As I beg For a burden free existence Feelings of love Feelings of hate Replaced by dispassion For feeling Anything at all What is worse, Being here Or causing Others pain Will I ever pass Through some gateway; To cleanse me Of my distress Free from the influence of God, nature or man Where all regret is gone And peace can be found These regrettable happenings: Life and living I reach in desperation As the woeful tides Drown my fragile soul
