Demo(n) Days
Dying time is here to stay The button was pushed by men of clay To our country comes the death Sick, disease what a mess The only war to end all wars Is the war where no one wins Radiation wished you'd died Just 18 your life denied Soldiers did not fight the war Cowards sat and planned Ordered men to destroy earth But it was not their land Familiar scenes we knew as home Vanished like the wind Memories of former friends Who died but had not sinned The deadly sound brings the doom The Aftermath Blinding light, bodies strewn The Aftermath Fallen cities the silence kills - the Aftermath Why does my skin turn green? The worse cancer you've ever seen Wish I'd gone in the blast My family did I'm the last Frustration I cannot hide I now think about suicide To think that man could kill the earth To kill the race and the unborn birth

Now let god be thanked Who has matched us with his hour And he who caught our youth And wakened us from sleep With hand made sure Clear eye and sharpened power To turn as swimmers keen to leap Glad from a world grown cold We had to leave the sick Honour could not move him They were all half men With dirty songs and dreary tales Where there is no ill No sleep, but grief will mend him Only agony will end And death seems the only friend A man of mine lies on the wire It's death to fetch his soulless corpses A man of mine lies on the wire And first his lips the worms will eat I love you great new titan I am of you Napoleon and Caesar Out of you grew Of unthinkable torture Eyes kissed by death Won back to the world again Lost and won in a breath Cruel men are made immortal Out of you pain born They have stolen the sun's power With feet on you shoulders worn Let them shrink from the earth That has outgrown pallid days When you slept like circes swine Or a word in the brains ways

She's old and poor at 72 She's not at all like me and you She needs some help at getting dressed And cleaning up the bed she messed In the winters icy chill Huddled round, she takes her pill Crying tears that no one sees She doesn't want to make it to 73 Better, better Better, better Better off dead! The sympathy people give you Don't let it go to your head Can't you see that they don't care They'd rather see you dead Then one day she fell There was no one there to go and tell She landed bad and broke her back And collapsed down like a lifeless sack For days she lay there dying slow And no one came, or seemed to know Until they came to visit she No prizes for guessing what did they see! Dead!

And we stood and stared far down Into that ember glowing town Which every shaft and shock of fate Had shorn unto its base too late The silver cool remakes the dead And lays no blame on any head For all the havoc fire and lead That fell upon the hangman's bed Crying, I don't hear your screams As your dying think what it means Suddenly it all seems clear Your dying for them, but lost all fear When all we came to know as good Gave way to the evil flood And myths of iron and of blood Disappeared in a trench of mud You smug faced crowds with glinting eye Who cheer when soldiers do walk by Sneak home and pray you'll never know The fuckin' hell that youth do go Deep sunk in sin this tragic star Sinks deeper still and wages war Against itself and all the seas Their victims of a world's disease
