The Illusion

Remembering all of the pain A reminder of where I should begin Moments of my life play over in my mind The shattered memories that have I left behind Left alone in my world counting my regrets The feelings linger on I cannot forget I thought if I could hide it all away And let go of all the anger and the fear What if I just can’t believe what’s real? Chasing a dream too far away from me Lost in infinity Can I forget everything I thought was right and learn to live again? Heartache born of sorrow These tears I’ve cried for a broken tomorrow Feeding lies creates the illusion Falling deep into this sea of confusion Tell me to stay and I will until I wake Afraid to close my eyes to a world about to break

And the night unveiled the dark Unleashed the moon And the stars flickered light To the lone enchanted tune The child closed her eyes Enough she had of sight And the paths and doorways opened To her darkest dreams came the night Dreams, insanity, raped the virgin mind Shattered innocence, but to have known She want to blame Was to admit their known guilt Fall prey to the same, she said "Welcome courage, we dream as not they The true is true" and she took my hand If you could see the world through The eyes of a child See the dark and know that it hides You'd learn Then one day, as she danced in the groves Her eyes spoke, of a woman, I didn't know "The years have gone and I'm afraid I must Depart, but the courage I thank you, For sheltering my heart" "Farewell my friend, I dream now as do they" The truth died as she opened her eyes I am courage, I dream as not they, To true be truth. Came the day

Memories run through my mind, but continue onward Stop & listen & take a look back at what I have learned Your Face, a smile a name I once knew A feeling of emotion is all I have left for you Foolish games, We've played them as It's been a while, but I can still stand tall We were young, a future uncertain ahead I'm still amazed at this life I've lead I can still remember the feelings But it's been a long time forgotten Seems strange to think about it now But it's been a long time forgotten Where are you now, do you remember me Times have changed, and so have we Close this door to all the memories Until again one day...goodbye I can still remember the feelings But it's been a long time forgotten Seems strange to think about it now But it's been a long time forgotten A long time forgotten

I lay my head down so I may sleep Another day passes on through the week Where are we headed to I don't know Can't someone tell me where to go? Truth and justice we've heard it before Equal opportunity is what we're living for Is it one nation under God? Or one word under common law! As I close my eyes, I begin to weep Can't get out, I've fallen in to deep We're all lost souls running out of control Anger and hate will destroy us all Light the flames of freedom Stand up and take a chance Ignite the flames of freedom The future of the world is in our hands Step to the edge, but be careful that you don't fall Run for the shadows, cast upon the wall Life is the question, is there an answer for me There's no way out of here I can't take this anymore Light the flames of freedom Stand up and take a chance Ignite the flames of freedom The future of the world is in our hands

A smile, a face, a touch of a hand Memories of my past flash through my head I still see you, hear you but I know you're not there Rememberances of you are hanging everywhere Was it you who told me to live each day by day Was it you who would hold me and say it would be okay I wish I could see you in that castle in the sky Then never worry or break down and cry I wished I knew where you were today Hope you're in that castle looking down my way When I was a child I always dreamt that I could fly Soar over mountains and kiss the clouds in the sky I could touch the sunlight and hold on to it tight I wished I could hold you in my arms tonight Was it you who told me to live each day by day Was it you who would hold me and say it would be okay Smile down on me I hope you're proud of what I've done It took some time to gain the courage to go on Someday I may travel to that place in the clouds But for now I only look up and speak out loud Was it you who told me to live each day by day Was it you who would hold me and say it would be okay I wish I could see you in that castle in the sky Then I'd never worry and never cry I wished I could see you in that castle in the sky Oh, I just want to see you and look into your eyes

In this world of no silver lining I've never found a mine of gold So many problems we're denying And the flames of hope are growing cold Sign of the times are just ahead, don't miss it And in between the lines, Don't be mislead Oh, I stand by myself, watching in pain As I open my eyes, I realize Oh, we're living in a world gone mad Oh, we're living in a world gone mad To give up now would make it all in vain But to continue onward may may drive me insane Oh, I stand by myself, watching in pain As I open my eyes, I realize Oh, we're living in a world gone mad Oh, we're living in a world gone mad

Looking in to the mirror, do I like what I see Hearing all of these voices inside of me Where have I gone, what have I done, what will I do? Too much undone, haven't carried through If I had a chance would I do it again? Or would I change my mind? Looking back it seems unfair Living life within your stare Past is past there is no end I'd trade my life to do it again Time goes by that I can't change Would I change the time? Looking to the cards, the crystal ball Can you tell me where I'll be? Will it be a bright future Or a short one for me? Time goes by that I can't change Would I change the time? In a blink of an eye seems my life has gone by I can't stop the wheels from rolling Can't keep my fate from following through Time goes by that I can't change Would I change my mind?

Outside there is a new day The past is left to fade, fade away A life long search for meaning Still we don't know the way Are we supposed to find an answer? Tomorrow melts to yesterday Is this the first day of the future? Or just more of the same? Where do we go from here? I don't know Do we go from here, won't someone tell me Confined in time we realize We can never waste a drop Worth more than gold it can't be sold And obsessed we never stop The path has come to a cross-road Will tomorrow light the way Is this the first day of the future? Or just more of the same? Where do we go from here? I don't know Do we go from here, won't someone tell me Won't someone tell me?

Keep your visions to the sky Things could change in a blink of an eye Some believe, some don't know Is this the end of the world? I've seen it in the good book I've read it in black and white Will there be judgment by day Or will there be judgment by night? If you choose to accept it Then you'll know what to expect If you don't really care then you'll suffer no regrets No regrets Here we stand in a shadow of silence Here we stand in a shadow of silence And no one seems to know, place or time Only time will show, you and me Can we forsee the future, will we all agree? The sun will rise tomorrow, then we'll see I've heard it said, "live for today and not tomorrow" Because the future's been foretold Is this the light at the end of the tunnel? Or have I been left in the cold? I saw an angel crying to me as her eyes filled with memories of the day
