Circles of light to infinity Every one is a star And each is a fragment of all divinity And will take its course across and afar Who claims the right of omnipotence? Who claims power over me? Old wars we never won We fight, lose and die the same Re-conquered by a foe we can't name Stand up! We cannot fall! We fool ourselves and heed the call Marching blindly into blame Will We Rise? Tear down all the lies they told To make us pay We're trapped in a snare But the bait that were clutching is Poison and cold We're caught unaware In the throes of the promise of Comfort and gold We gnaw our legs to stay alive We drown in blood but still we strive To sow the barren seeds they sold Wil We Rise? Taking back the lives they dared To steal away Now dark stars have aligned The plague has come to claim us, Dress our flesh in dirt and lime We starve in our shelters And cower in our caves Crawl out just to fight ourselves For the right to be their slaves Will tomorrow be the same dead, grey, Eternal today? I dreamed I walked along the riverbed Burned up and barren, full of holes I saw a flower try to lift its head Before the sun would take its toll The fragile flower was my soul I walked until there came a confluence That once beheld a mighty sea And there I sifted through the evidence That had become my destiny And in this place Where even truth cannot be found Is where I lay my body down So as I lie there in my riverbed Until the sky went black and cold I saw that flower try to lift his head and for the rain his arms unfold Trusting the rain to flood the ground Thirsting for love... waiting to drown
