Disturbed was my old friend<br/> When he joined me for a pint of ale<br/> By a stranger<br/> He met on the road out of town<br/> <br/> This encounter<br/> Turned his blood cold and his skin pale<br/> It was no traveller<br/> For it had two horns, hooves and a tail<br/> <br/> And when the creature<br/> Looked upon my friend with a fiery stare<br/> He lost all control<br/> And he took a tumble from his mare<br/> <br/> As he lay there<br/> With his blood and dirt all in his eyes<br/> He screamed<br/> “The devil has come for me to take my life!”<br/> <br/> A crowd had gathered<br/> To hear how my friend had been cursed<br/> They gave him whiskey<br/> But alas it did not calm his nerves<br/> <br/> Out the window<br/> Was a sight that filled his eyes with fear<br/> Then in a whisper<br/> My friend said to me, "He's here"<br/> <br/> I followed his gaze<br/> And I thought I saw a silhouette<br/> Of a beast with bright eyes<br/> And it had two horns upon its head<br/> <br/> It was no devil<br/> I saw how my friend had been fooled<br/> When he met a chimney sweep<br/> Being followed home by his mule
