My Silent Wake

Stretch out your hands and touch me I am yesterday I am time I am eternity Hold out your hope Release me I am feeling I am light I am eternity I am greater than self Come find me I'm weary of sin, so help me I'm the dancer to the dance of life I live on bread and blood red wine

Bleak endless winter Curse this cold Never ending night of misery You are silent Will you save me in the end? Nobody can carry your burden Bowed low in the grip of disease Crestfallen, forsaken Please take this bitter cup from me Soul wasting sorrow Broken again I close my eyes, let it wash over me Lost in darkness Will you save us once again? Futile listless cries A slow demise All is wasted Stone cold faces Look away Far below them, slowly we creep Sometimes this feels like there's nothing left You failed the test is this punishment? They twisted your words to condemn us Was it ever the way they were meant They fall silent As they turn From the helpless, from the weak As they turn from the weak

Who knows what we tell the dark When shadows close around blotting out Our only light, our only hope? Do you long to be more than this? This life deludes between the days Await release without hope, again and again...(again and again) In the darkness, shadows in mourning Realms of silence lead the night... I am nobody's child, a ragged creature Impoverished at your behest In my silence... When there's no warmth left in the sun As the days draw by when we hide In the world... In the darkness, shadows in mourning Lead the night... (The end.) ... [Here where I hide, without your compassion In a world devoid of warmth In a world devoid of light Is the face that deludes my perfection Or my perversion continually turning Towards the sky over and over, again and again...]

Cast down your eyes to the shameful ground The shattered Earth foretells a devastated land Shelter from the rain that clouds the darkening sky The ones who love their ignorance shall lead us all to die We saw the falling of the Sun The light has gone, the greatest deed has been done The moon will rise, the dusk will veil my face This is the end of the longest of days We will fall, We will rise We will rise, We will fall Condemn the Earth, The story of Our own demise. A fatal flaw The new dawn appearing Appalling and vivid This cannot be the land of the living For we have become the stories we told Now we shall weep for the lives that we sold Taking it all, the thieves of the mind Denying, forgetting the souls left behind Sweet tears of remorse fall and gather in vain Bitter consummation with the ever vengeful rain The inertia is growing, engulfing the sky Betrayal of many unready to die A voyage of honour, misplaced sanctity The pilgrims have poisoned the world of the free The civilisation that learned how to lie Preparing to make the last sacrifice Praying to wake, and waking to pray This is the end of the longest of days Tear down the walls and strengthen the Earth After the winter the time of rebirth Tear down the walls and strengthen the Earth After the winter the time of rebirth Tear down the walls and strengthen the Earth After the winter the time of rebirth Gone is the power in which we entrusted Through lies and deception the good were corrupted Herald the dawn of the longest of days Farewell to the fortunate, laid in their graves Tear down the walls then and strengthen the Earth After the winter the time of rebirth

On the mantelpiece stands a photograph Soldier and his bride One of many who had to leave To march, to fight, to die She will always remember you and the look in your eyes One of many who had to leave And they pushed you to the limit Fighting man, a frightened child And you saw her on the battlefield The closing moments of your life They will always remember you and the look in your eyes One of many who had to leave She is old now, she has lived long, and not a day goes by Without a thought of you An unspoken hope To walk with you beyond the skies
