Closer to the Sky

A light shines over the horizon The moment of impact unseen Two distant worlds colliding The shockwaves scatter and fling Their atmospheres burning Their gravities pulling Burnt are their worlds They’re left dying Ever their souls Are wandering Burnt are their worlds They’re left dying Ever their souls Are left wandering The flames in their wake Nothing escapes Rock turns to dust And dust blows away The stellar collision implodes The worlds once within, gone The stardust is scattered far All the energy that’s left Is thrown out into the cosmic emptiness Their souls are swallowed By the cold empty darkness. The fires moves over the horizon The waves of impact are seen Two empty worlds destroying The shockwaves are travelling near Their landforms breaking Their lifeforms ending Burnt are their worlds They’re left dying Ever their souls Are wandering Burnt are their worlds They’re left dying Ever their souls Are left wandering

Peaking over the invisible horizon Through the clouds of thick blackened haze Two moons rise, one full, one crescent On opposing sides, swaying the mists below Rise the mists of darkness Gravity pulls you into the air The sisters rise from their underworld home Unleashing mischief and despair Oh lunar queens of madness Take hold of me, take over me Oh mighty beings so contrary You tear at me, each half of me One deep azure, the other burning crimson They fight to control this world they own They cast a venomous violet glow A poisoning storm of confusion Rise the mists of violet darkness Transform into a wispy glow The air is thick with madness The world obeys and parts in two

A morning cold I stirred and rose And stared into the darkness I dreamed of fires I dreamed of warmth I looked but saw no sunrise A cliff face old Where shadows grow I gazed into the darkness I felt the chills I felt the silence I looked but saw no starlight An ocean cold So far below I leapt into the darkness I heard the waves I heard the wind I looked but saw no bright light Abandon me, I’ve left for a dream A promise, a hope and a lie Alone in here, this world is mine But with no reason to shine Abandon me, I’ve left for a dream A promise, a hope and a lie Alone in here, this world is mine But with no reason to shine Now the sea reflects the stars And I feel closer to the sky.

Hold me, hold me to the light of this glory To the burning of the fires And let them burn through me Corroding and eroding All that’s mortal and so ugly Let me be reborn into the cosmic flame again Hold me, hold me to the flame of this fury To the cleansing of the fires And let it consume me Shaping and retaking All that’s mortal and awakening What is left of my long lost inner flame, again.
