From the filth of withered ground There once grew a thorn Aiming past colorless blanket For a sky drained of life Swarth of soil escaped Farther and farther, towards oceans of grey No matter how high it pushed Warmth could not be found Pray this night will never end Black is a heaven sent For we are lost without the dark Carved of misery, corrupt from the start Hope the light to never shine For minds so unkind We are only worth the dark No more than the dark A swing of a sickle Cut down in a single stroke You belong to the shadows For a moment all seemed to clear This life is sound and fury Tale that fails to hold a meaning And hope for better days Is a weak match for the void that fills us all
