Mortal and condemned… Black veiled shapes of mourning Spirits cloaked by glooming reverence Sonorous tolls the funeral bell Heads bowed follow in procession Eyes bedimmed with tears Lament for the loss endured Stillness… As the birds have ceased their song And heavy rain begins to pour A futile prayer floats like mist To rest eternally The rope gives way Slow, but steady Into the cold unknown To receive as had been given… Under sorrow’s unrelenting spell thou shalt wander, till thou return to the earth out of which thou wast taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return. All paths converge In final knowing: Into quiet eternity All shall venture… Dead drops the wilted wreath To earth’s sodden swansong And the eerie dirge Of the shovels‘ scrape Mortal and condemned left behind… As the dreaded day unfolds When mourners drift Like scattered ash And silver tears dry By callous winds When once more, The weight is lifted Unbearable, but fleeting… When mourners drift Like scattered ash And silver tears dry By callous winds When once more, The weight is lifted We are forlorn, Left to rest eternally… As meager mortals We pass from mirthless grounds Into waters of forgetfulness Days march on And seasons shift In total indifference…

Where bitter tears of bereavement once fell In utter silence, swallowed by foulest earth They rot away... Lure of the dead… Six feet under rotten soil Unburdened from the weight of life Centuries undone, existence nullified Remembrance long withered, flesh turned into soil A strange allurement has taken hold of me I rot… away… Like father, like son Descendance has begun For grave men sire graves And cowards father cowards Lured by the dead

Step unto the mourner‘s path Begin the quest for truth So many yet have asked All hallowed vows disintegrate Promises end up shattered Search yourself As vanity of life is lifted Lay bare the idols And reveal the mourners path Not by way of thought Will is tamed Not by way of reason Death is claimed Not in gold nor in glory, Not in flesh nor in name Does the soul find its solace Or quench its restless flame Lay bare the idols And life’s false dichotomy Truth is adorned with failure Echoed forth ad nauseam Life’s lost vanity… All hallowed vows disintegrate And promises end up shattered Spewed forth ad nauseam Life’s lost vanity…

Withered through atrophy And broken by loss Every futile attempt Yields to nothingness Sucked into a swamp Of empty novelty Trapped inside this restless, anhedonic hull This apex of existence A dress of rotting skin Immured by ageless unrest Set adrift in endless dark This apex of existence… In my own putrid creation I bathe in the silence of cowards

We are idle hands to knot and weave The severed web of continuity We live with nurtured seeds of doubt But true knowledge blossoms for the dead Gnosis, it eludes our grasp Lost in the aeons, forced into retreat Wretchedness prevails All enigma is untold Epistemology of the passed Old conundrums to unfold We dwell in secrets, doomed to last All enigma is untold Epistemology of the passed Old conundrums to unfold Tragedy and loss amassed Gnosis, it eludes our grasp Lost in the aeons, forced into retreat Wretchedness prevails In this day and age of blindness What light shall guide our way What lance will pierce this veil What truthful words remain? With gnosis laid to rest Flown into somber night, In realms of death, Truth resides.
