At One With the Night Sky
Our sun is dead Our world is dead Darkness descends Our words left unsaid Our home is gone Our hope is gone Our songs unsung And our dreams undone Extinction, damnation This world is a grave All life, all love All history erased Here then gone, all but forgotten Dust we are, fading to nothing

Exiled to the stars - cold and lost Haunting this lifeless void Sorrow in our hearts - all is loss All we once were, destroyed Faint as ghosts – here we dwell Shadows without a sun No repose - cosmic hell Nearing oblivion Endless blackness, bereaved and forlorn Dismal, wistful, grieving forevermore Unending suffering in memory A night without dawn Where all our hope is gone As our dreams decay Of a new home far away Trajectories unknown Despairing and alone Ghostly soliloquies In starry reverie Light forever gone Our end has begun Embracing demise At one with the night sky

Cold lights in the dark Arms adorned with stars Aglow in the night Rivers filled with starlight Gaze up to the sky Heavens deified Tales of creation Gods and constellations Tremble, worship, revere the night sky Astral tyrant of the night The winter way gleaming bright Spiral arms like rivers Spiral arms like rivers Spiral arms like rivers Spiral arms like rivers in the night

Light-years away, distance so great Visions of space, out of reach Ever earthbound, kings with no crown Longing profound, life so brief Born to this Earth Of dust and dirt Here cursed to die Dreaming of the night sky Interstellar aspirations Yet still affixed to the ground Solar system still our prison Near-earth orbit, looking down Ever wanderers, ever pioneers Long we have lingered on cosmic shores Time to leave this earth, time to set our sails Time to embark, ever to explore Worlds are waiting beyond the clouds Liberating – nevermore earthbound
