1. Would you like to hear my song? Would you believe my words? About king Olaf Tryggvason, the subject of this song. Refrain: Dance resounds in the halls, Dance! – Form a ring. Brave Norwegians ride to Hildur’s thing. 2. The king had a vessel built on the level sand. The Serpent was the largest ship built on Norwegian lands. Refrain 40. Eric left the sandy beach, ran down to the pier: “Be prepared to leave the beach the Serpent is now here!” Refrain 41. They all saw the Serpent come sailing proud and bold. The rigging was a sail of silk, the bows were made of gold. Refrain 45. Wolf the Red stood in the bows, he never got it wrong: “Don’t shoot the ship to much ahead, the Serpent is too long”. Refrain 49. King Olaf stood up in the stern staring back and forth: “Who owns all these mighty ships steering at our port?” Refrain 54. Herning looks out on the ships, answers to his call: “They belong to Eric the Earl, the bravest of them all” Refrain 59. The king of Denmark stormed ahead convinced that he could win. Norwegians, they fought so hard! the Danish lines were thin. Refrain 60. Smoke raised from fighting men, blood poured in the sea. It turned out that all the Danes had to back and flee. Refrain 76. Eric jumped onboard the Serpent with his sword in hand. Herning rushed down from the stern, med him with his brand. Refrain 83. The king shouted from the stern, through the noise and rattle: “Jump into the sea, my men! We have lost this battle” Refrain 84. Then the king and all his men, -although brave and bold- jumped into the salty sea, they did as they were told. Refrain

Dark is everything Cold and fire surrounding it all Flames melting ice A battle that has to finish at all Frozen emptiness Ginnungagap is just a deep, black hole Burning darkness Life takes form when the hot meets the cold There is Niflheim Valleys and mountains are made of no stone There is Muspelheim Rivers of magma destroying the whole Frost giving him life He was born from Heat, filling the air Now he has taken form Ymer the giant First living creature, born from the snow Horrible fate Betrayed and beheaded by (the) children of Bor That's the beginning Fighting for life, absence of love Violence and nonsense From dark to light, from nothing to all That's our story Ginnungagap hole is our hole Snow and fire Creators of our own Of our own That's our story Ginnungagap hole is our hole Snow and fire Creators of our own

The night weaves the land A thunder tears the loom of life A ripper scream lights up the dark The serpent has born, born from wrath. Surrounding Midgard, the world of man the snake bites its tail with venomous fangs awaiting the moment when Gjallarhorn sounds Jörmungandr prepares for Ragnarök time Thrown to the sea by Oden (Jörmungandr) It will poison the skies Awaiting the day (Jörmungandr) To take it’s revenge (Jörmungandr) Wake up, oh mighty snake! A dark age of death has just arrived. Thor awaits 'cause this fight will make both reach your fate. Poisonous skies, fire and hail. Blood poured in the sea as Thor, Thunder God, kills the snake and dies after just nine steps.

Here I stand again I am back to my yearned land Memories embrace me, I realize I should never have left Morning comes at last All these years have gone by so fast And it scares me But I’ll stand here ‘til the day I die Sun is rising now it’s given birth by the mountains wind blows cold as ice but I can feel the fire in my heart I was eager to run, along these vast northern lands, but I’m not longer young, it’s not long before my time has come From time to time, from land to land it was told (that) this place was paradise now (that) I stand at this ground so dank I’m so proud to call this “my homeland” There was a time when I was strong and brave but my fate now takes me to the grave From time to time, from land to land it was told (that) this place was paradise now (that) I stand at this ground so dank I’m so proud to call this “my homeland”

Once dead his father He closed family business Cooking tacos and burritos Was not his way of life He took from an old chest His six-shoot deathbringer And wearing his poncho had a fate to find. He joined a band of raiders Which were going to the north. Through forests, across valleys Plundering and forth. Cruel and showing no mercy, soon He became known. The man who came from southlands was striking on and on. One day while He was sleeping a poor fool tried to rob him And before he'd even cried His hands lay on the floor So in retaliation He went one by one to the members of the band cutting off their hands CHORUS He’s a stranger where he goes. He's been wandering alone. Now his time's about to come. Death and glory shall be known. Finally He came up to a little town in forest. And in secret with the Dark Gods He made his twisted deal. So falling into madness, thirsty of death and pain, He slayed all the peasants and ate their bloody entrails. No one will ever know What happened that day. The deal that he had done He carried with him to his grave.

Fimbulwinter yet to come A dark age has just begun Northern winds starting to blow there's no chance to avoid the cold Pine trees bend as golden straw Mountains freeze with falling snow Hail and ice will follow soon dictated march by pale blue moon You feel your heart becoming older Look outside, it's getting colder Stay at home near by your fire Trying to impede the gods' desire But there's no escape, no looking back When Loki's son growls in the dark Mighty winter has arrived Northern winds of darkened, freezing hands... Our land is scorched by the impressive cold Rotting carcass of the dreams we once rode Remains we left from defeated foes Are now the future of our condemned souls. An age of axes, an age of swords, of shields destroyed and fratricidal wars. An era of winds, an era of wolves, It's the prelude for the Ragnarök

Obscure times, continual war, Destroyed towns, greed and pride. Gods destined for oblivion, Asking for help to the guardians of time. Superior beings looking down on mankind, Counting your days, judging your life. No way to escape to the look of their eyes, No sword can stop the edge of their scythes. Superior beings looking down on mankind, Witnesses of a sinister past. When mortals, lost, looked for a guide, They had to take the guardians on trust. Guardians of time! Faithful times, lands of hope, Guardians' promise, a better world. Gods destined for oblivion, Asking for help to the guardians of time. The guardians of time! Judging your life! Superior beings looking down on mankind, No way to escape to the look of their eyes. Superior beings looking down on mankind, When mortals, lost, looked for a guide. Crossing the night, As a forest guided by thunderlight. Lightning can't wait, So ride through the stars. And the rivers of time, Dyed by blood Of the ones who once tried To beat us in war. We're guardians of Time Crossing the night, As a forest guided by thunderlight. Lightning can't wait, So ride through the stars. And the rivers of time, Dyed by blood Of the ones who once tried To beat us in war. We're guardians of time! Crossing the night, As a forest guided by thunderlight Lightning can't wait, So ride... we're Guardians of Time!

There's an old man, here in town Maybe you have seen him But don't you try, even too loud He'll not answer the yelling He shows up he's bored with a huge snore He's paying no attention! Who could be this old man that has just fallen asleep? Grandma says that he was brave strong, kind and sexy. Won a fight with only bare hands, enemies were at least sixty! Calm the storm, tame the seas, take the dog for a walk. He could do anything. Anything he wanted Uncork a bottle in his name, hooray! Hooray! Uncork a bottle in his name, hooray! Hooray! Uncork a bottle in his name, rum, whiskey, it's all the same! 'Cause tonight we're drinking and drinking and drinking and drinking and drinking again! Remember what we're drinking for, hooray! Hooray! Remember what we're drinking for, hooray! Hooray! Remember what we're drinking for, so drink and drink and drink some more! Til we lie on the ground, drunken and proud of what we have become. He discovered Vinland, well, he and some of his friends. A place with great resources: Hops, malt and also wine grapes. They brewed a lot, A LOT of drinks -Alcoholic type- And when they finished drank them To see what tasted like. So next day when he got up He had hangover so great that burped as loud and fiercely That became completely deaf Now that you know the story and why he cannot hear, You must hail Erik the Deaf The viking with no ears!
