In Vain
Album • 2010
I have been pierced by a deadly thorn There is no way to undo what's done My disease, my infection I am so impure My release, my redemption Is there a cure I'm falling from the righteous path Hollow silence follows these days In silence enduring the pain Protecting my soreness from daylight Alleviate this loneliness, contaminate this fright I hope for a better tomorrow Vague memories painful enough To wish they had never been They're still haunting me Shivering with horror, awaiting tomorrow Desperately searching for a cure Each drop of life absorbed by this void In silence enduring the pain...

Ain't no lovin' In this God forsaken land Ain't no lovin' I'm just a poor old man She left me in the morning Never to come back again Now I'm sitting here with My guitar in my hand Ain't no lovin' No more lovin'

On the banks of the Mississippi An old man sits on his bench Watching the river's water flow Smoking cigarettes as time goes by Reminiscing about the years passed And his loved ones who've gone old Now his life is shortened His better days are gone Watching the moon in the eventide In the cold freezing rain Three destinies in a cruel world With vague dreams buried by loss Laying their burdens down On the banks of the Mississippi On the banks of the Mississippi A woman breaks down in tears Crying for her lost love Who was consumed by the waves On a stormy autumn night Never to be found again Now her life is without meaning Now her life is dead Watching... On the banks of the Mississippi An old sailor is drinking his ale Trying to find peace of mind, trying to ease the pain Regretting his actions of the past, and all those wasted years Time spent at bars around the world, miles away from home Now he longs for someone But no one is to be found Watching... Cast your sorrows to the wind And stay for a while Don't let them bring you down Those sorrows you cannot hide They're tearing you up inside Another day will come When you lay your burdens down

Season of the sick Spreading venom With their filthy hands And words of hatred Dark prophets, black hearts Leaders without dedication Crazed by greed Starvation and downfall Created the wake Hearts are hardening Loss of humanity Rise to the call To liberate This world from Greed and sickness And together we'll triumph once again (no compromise) At the dawn We declare war On this world Arise and build anew All against all Take the fight Crush and destroy Don't submit Don't accept it into your life Heartless men cannot create A positive change in a world That is cold Simply tear it down Hearts are hardening Loss of humanity Rise to the call...

Dedicated to the proud Nez Perce nation One time the wind blew free and there was nothing to break the light of the sun In a past that is now lost forever There was a time when land was sacred and the ancient ones were as one with it A time when only the children of the Great Spirit were here. To light their fires in these places with no boundaries When the forests were as thick as the fur of the winter bearland and a warrior could walk from horizon to horizon on the backs of the buffalo And during that time when there were only simple ways, I saw with my heart the conflicts to come, and whether it was to be for good or bad, what was certain was that there would be chance Wayakin, summon strength and ward us from evil Wayakin, a spirit with transformative powers Wayakin, talisman of superhuman forces Wayakin, the guardian spirit of the Nez Perce We look to the bear, the owl and the eagle as our brothers To teach us how to live They talk to us, we listen The bear tells us of our strength The owl of our wisdom And the eagle of our freedom It is time for us to remember

We have become desolate We have become blind Creating disorder, a morbid obsession We have become heartless We have become cold Craving satisfaction, yearning for release Vanity, voracity, infidelity and pride These are the ecstasies that keep us fervent Starvation, suffocation, ailment and death These are the agonies that fall on mankind We have become deserted We have become enraged Foreseeing apocalypse, mocking the righteous We have become inimical We have become slaves Craving satisfaction, yearning deliverance Vanity, voracity, infidelity and pride...

I'm just a poor wayfaring stranger While traveling in this world of woe Yet there's no sickness, toil nor danger In that bright land to which I go I'm going there to see my Father I'm going there no more to roam I'm only going over Jordan I'm only going over home I know dark clouds will gather ‘round me I know my way is rough and steep But golden fields lie out before me Where God's redeemed shall ever sleep I'm going home to see my mother She said she'd meet me when I come I'm only going over Jordan I'm only going over home I'll soon be free from every trial This body sleep in that churchyard I'll drop the cross of self-denial And enter on my great reward I'm going there to see my Savior To sing His praise forevermore I'm only going over Jordan I'm only going over home

I saw a future standing Before my weary eyes A reformation of life Grasp or decay Frightened by light This opportunity escaped Lonely and cold Hiding from daylight These burdensome longings Tearing me apart I hold my breath To stay alive I’m lost in confusion Stranded on air I remain in despair Waiting in silence Hiding the pain I enter nightfall Never left any trace Only memories of what Could have been remain In my secret plight These burdensome longings Tearing me apart... Through the sorrows of My life I slowly realize My longing, my desperation Can not be cured Before the pain in my heart Has been tread apart These burdensome longings Tearing me apart... No one ever saw me gleam
