Voids and Visions

Falling through the sky I land on my feet In a place that I know I’ve been I question why The path before me Is a road I’ll walk again I heave a sigh As I follow the trail That will lead me To where I am My hand waves goodbye The world starts to spin I see myself waiting Around the next bend Endless circles are boxing me in Crescent moons are spinning again I need to find a place to hide Past the corners of my windswept mind Illusions cloud my sight Block my mind, distort what’s right They’ve left an empty well Created fear I can’t dispel The foggy haze I see through Obscures my mind no matter what I do It will not dissipate, it leaves no space In this lonely time and place Nobody’s dying to be A hollow man, a shell like me But what I am is who I was I’ve never changed my lifelong flaws Everything is falling apart Every dream I had is dead and gone I’m left crawling, barely hanging on But all I can do is carry on Help me see the road ahead for me Help me ignore the voices in the wind That guide me back to where I’ve been Help me feel the things I know are real Help me restore the choices in my life That led me to this void within Waiting patiently, on solid ground I stand I find it more enjoyable than sinking in the sand I will see myself through this pain I will attain Waiting impatiently, on shaky ground I am Most times it’s more desirable than facing who I am I will find my way through life’s terrain I will attain Soul-searching to attain a way despite the pain Soul-searching to attain a way through life’s terrain Moving forward To fall behind Holding on To lose my mind Checking in When I’m checked out Wearing in What’s been worn out Rising up To fall back down Leaving shore To run aground Breaking ties To bind them fast Looking forward To what has passed Killing time To bring to life A fractured thought That won’t arrive A hollow shell That’s filled inside With all the tears That I have cried A life in need of change Creates a void within What counts is right here and now Pick a new path, begin Everything was falling apart Every dream I had was dead and gone I was left crawling, barely hanging on But now I know I’ll carry on I can see the road ahead for me I can ignore the voices in the wind That took me back to where I’d been I can feel the things I know are real I have restored the choices in my life And I’m no longer void within

Stars roll by Gliding underneath my wings Sailing by on their Path into obscurity Planets glide by Rolling underneath my wings Drifting by on their Course into eternity Embrace the light Fly straight into the sun Feel my mind consumed And my spirit come undone An astral journey Through the pages of my mind Escaping cages that were Tombs for thoughts confined I’ll pass through light years In my search to find A place where I belong With the vision of the blind Clouds float by Drifting through my hands Forming into something Obeying my demands Wind howls by Screaming in my ears Lifting me to freedom Shifting all my fears Race through the night Dive deep into the sea Reach the ocean floor In darkness I can see An oceanic journey On the waves of my mind Holding on to driftwood Leaving earth behind I’ll float across the deep In my search to find A world where I belong With the vision of the blind Using creativity Trapped in reality My mind’s eye wonders How my life might be In the dark forever Though my mind is free Never to recover I’ll discover sights I long to see Searching every corner, no casual glance I see everything and nothing all at once I sense adventure, waiting there for me Is this deception or just perception? One raindrop on the still, calming water The broken surface distorts the mirror I might walk into the sky From the edge with no alibi I may dive into the fire With a hope that I’ll survive I might fall right through the earth From the ledge, no reason why I may rise up to the heights Let the lights fill up my soul Carry me through darkness Lift me away from here Open my mind to wonders Where seeing would interfere Traveling with the wind My journey begins I am drawn to the edge And I jump from the ledge With my eyes wide open I can see only black And when I now close them I see much more than that My mind has been unlocked And within it I have walked To the places I had only Dreamed of before To have my sight torn from me Has helped me to clearly see The things that my eyes Have always ignored Somehow I see more And now I know more About myself Than I knew before I can’t be held down All my chains are unbound And the sight that I lost Has now been found I’ve learned to uncover Sights I can’t discover To explore them in my mind Where there’s so much more to find
