Slowly Grinding Are the Mills of Gods
Born from the ice of existence Brought to the shores of their slumber Provoke the fury of the gods Be drowned in a dried out ocean of their ire -------------------------------------------------------- Concealed to be the one To pierce the hecatomb Of illusions and nightmares With a unifying bloodred fire. -------------------------------------------------------- Within the scorn of gravity to unexplainable deviations From their wombs sheer bearing Of the despicable progeny of nightmares. -------------------------------------------------------- Fourth dimension opens a path Leading to the 1919 teeth jaws vulturing in a chasm Of immortal stone giants They stay out of time They breed with mountains Begotten shoggoths of the cosmic well. -------------------------------------------------------- Upraised to the shores Of unleashed ire You break into their subconscious slumber. -------------------------------------------------------- Mutilated bones Of the perished ones Will be their guardian in their subconscious slumber. -------------------------------------------------------- ("Poetry and the Gods" by H.P.Lovecraft and A.H.Crofts) In thy yearning hast thou divined what no mortal else, saving only a few whom the world rejects, remembereth; that the Gods were never dead, but only sleeping the sleep and dreaming the dreams of Gods in lotos-filled Hesperian gardens beyond the golden sunset. And now draweth nigh the time of their awaking, when coldness and ugliness shall perish, and Zeus sit once more on Olympus. Already the sea about Paphos trembleth into a foam which only ancient skies have looked on before, and at night on Helicon the shepherds hear strange murmurings and half-remembered notes. Woods and fields are tremulous at twilight with the shimmering of white saltant forms, and immemorial Ocean yields up curious sights beneath thin moons. The Gods are patient, and have slept long, but neither man nor giant shall defy the Gods forever.
