Beneath our feet Beneath our everything Molten death readies to blow Erupting, merciless Empties onto the surface The end of all we know Inside out is sweet release From endless futility Inside out is sweet release From senseless hostility Once blue, instead An ember, glowing red Like nothing ever was Uninhabitable Like any other planet Slung around the sun Inside out is sweet release From endless futility Inside out is sweet release From senseless hostility Emptied of its molten core The hollow planet dies Crushed by force of gravity Burned, then pulverized

Posture and primp All the way to the grave To delusions of relevance We are enslaved Golden apparitions Beguile and disguise The terrible absurdity Of being alive Paralyzing impermanence Paralyzing impermanence Not so much “here” As molecular happenstance We cry and we cheer, A mimetic, performative dance Soured by the awareness, No matter how slight, Of the terrible absurdity Of being alive Paralyzing impermanence Paralyzing impermanence To live, in spite of death To live, in spite of dying To live at all

To crawl out, then crawl inside The master directive Taking his first gasp of air He climbed up from the womb Exiting her fleshy folds Glistening, like a miracle Shaking off the excrement He soared into the sky In awe of all he saw Bewildered by the miracle To crawl out, then crawl inside The master directive Then came the spears Piercing flesh and spirit Shaking his faith In the miracle Hope turned to rage Rage to defeat And the soaring slowed And on his way down He was swarmed and pecked By all manner of scavenger Taking, taking, taking And finally, his body limp, He plummeted toward a hole Just beside the one that gave him birth, But this one with a tombstone and dug into the earth To crawl out, then crawl inside The master

The environment strangles the weak Radiation kills the strong Fade away in nuclear winter Final death comes from inside Leftover humans must survive Greed - no boundaries Reason is obscure The eternal sanctity Synthetic beings conquer Human counter disapears Struggling for a new life again Germs populate the world No respect in this nuclear time Cries die away
