A fire in the night, An ocean burning bright, A fear raged in Fëanor, As he bathed in the light. What was once a shining beacon Is lost in the gloomy deeps Tales of wonder and majesty Of kings on the carven stone Our right to rule was hewn from the mountain And ended by the terror from on high Now the sun sets on the mountain Our hallowed halls no longer shine As we wander in the wilderness Our hearts are starved of light Fear the horror deep within, death incarnate A terror, wreathed in blackened flame; fear Durin’s bane Brothers take arms And march!
