Under an ominous sky the way is lost Roaming through this creeping wasteland Where hope and light fade ‘To a passage shrouded by suffering Rotting reeds that writhe in misty winds Echo an epitaph of sorrow Suppressed by despair we wade forth Followed by knowing sightless eyes Deep within the silenced fen Their pale eyes surface from below Like candles faded within forgotten shadows The dead sleep beneath the tide Entranced by the dim water before me A reflection haunted with visions past Faces sunken and shoulders bent In armor that no longer shines with the sun Swallowed by the damp mist Bound to the pallid marsh Drowned in eternal darkness The dead forever stay The dead forever remain Break through the lifeless fog Disillusioned by the dead Burdened to continue on And carry the anguish of man Deep within the silenced fen Their pale eyes surface from below Like candles faded within forgotten shadows The dead sleep beneath the tide
