Hand forced to dispense the end Orders of ruined amends Longed for something ideal Warfare becoming too real Carried away by the stream Dying for other mens dreams Blood laid out for the course Attaining heaven by force can you hear it? above gunfire? a mournful gospel sung by mortars can you see it? through their smoke? my elegy written in dirt cannon fodder pounds the gate death that need not have been smothered wails through carbine martial music guides no one home “Hear my call Burn it all”
