Into the Blackness

Terrified as the men in cloaks take you Into the courtyard, to the altar Circle etched into the ground, and you're tied down And the chanting begins Now! It's time Your life It ends here tonight An offering to their god Under moonlight Victim of a malevolent cult Dozens of acolytes slowly filing in You cannot recall how you arrived Priest opens his bag and pulls out his knife Blade cuts your flesh Begin to bleed Carving marks upon you Meant for gods to read Wide eyes The dagger's inside From your body Your soul is untied Wide eyes Begin to lose sight As you fade Your memories dance in your mind It's time Your life It ends here tonight An offering to their god Under moonlight Victim of a malevolent cult In the courtyard, on the altar Circle etched into the ground Body open, blood is pouring down Wide eyes The dagger's inside From your body Your soul is untied Wide eyes Begin to lose sight As you fade, you listen "O magnum tibi offérimus Uos carni et sanguini"

(As I wandered through the forest alone I happened upon an ancient cave Unseen by human eyes for millennia A great power emanated from its depths Drawn in by its call, I stepped into its shadowy embrace The walls glistened with moisture, the air was sweet and thick I stopped to look back from whence I came But no entrance did I see...) This is the tale, of the darkening of my soul... Panic wells in the pit of my gut Until a voice whispers to me With a tender nudge, quells my fear And beckons me to walk on Further into the deep Further into the blackness Further and further into the cold So far am I from the light of the sun The walls appear to glow now Guiding me ever onward My whispering disincarnate companion Ever present, though one voice becomes two And two become four Their language is strange, unknown to me Spoken with such a lilt, a cadence of curiosity But somewhere in my mind, a fear still grows I'm powerless to turn back I know now I shall not see daylight again My eyes strain to comprehend the void This is my life now, my future I fall to my knees, Seems a fine place to stay a while The voices sing to me now A harmonious dirge, mellifluous drawl Pitches rising upward Louder and louder Melodies morph into tortured wails The music of insanity, of ageless torment Madness threatens to take me Indeed, I know that it will I will not turn away from them Faces flicker in front of me Grinning, pained, laughing in mania They need me, welcome me Take me into their misery (Heaving on the floor I begin to scream I am lost now Lost in a world of absurdity Am I alive, or am I dead Am I entombed beneath a mountain Or is this cold floor rather like the padded walls of a cell Existence is a torture Plagued by these voices Could I dash my head into the stone Until the voices leave me alone)

I confiscate the enemy soul I am the one who tears it, from flesh so cold Inner existence, is a fading light Somber, marching into the suffocating night My role is one of expiration All shall heed the wisdom of obliteration Kneel, even Kings, they to me And terror grip their mind When the seers cannot foreshadow And the clerics cannot divine How this doth creep upon thee Make your peace, no matter now Soon to be at one with Darkness Lungs creak and heart slows down Now, follow me Plead, for clemency Your fate is written Your wretched soul, to perdition Eternity in the infernal region In a dark place, you cannot see In the blackest corner of your mind The thing you fear, your misery A nightmare world to which you've been consigned Blind! You're so blind My role is one of expiration All shall heed the wisdom of obliteration My need is for annihilation All shall see advancing termination Now, in purgatory Plead, an end to agony Unredeemed, forevermore to wallow Wrapped in grief 'till doomsday In flame you go
