Embers of the Dawn
As daylight fades and the shadows grow longer In the burning embers I see past, present and future The dancing flames go higher and higher At the break of day banners will rise and smoke will fill the sky Dark clouds blacken the horizon and freezing winds blow Still in the darkness we gather eagerly awaiting the dawn As I gaze into the fire I remember the freezing nights and the warmest days Shall death embrace me on this day or the next For what tomorrow brings will be decided in blood The dancing flames rise higher and touch the sky The fire rising paints the bloodred sky as worlds collide at the break of dawn Forged in fire and baptised in steel In the burning embers I see the truth revealed As millennia before and after this day tomorrow a new day will dawn Will I be here to see it?

Across the open seas and the valleys wide Hear the roaring call to sharpen the blade Cast doubt aside for strength is forged in fire In the trial of honour and steel where the true shall triumph Through wind and rain chasing the endless horizon Across mountains high that pierce the eternal sky The wind whispers on a calm silent night As the clouds clear and reveal the celestial sign Heart of fire and wrath of steel Follow the sign and spill the blood to those unworthy Fury like thunder striking with force Under the sky and the stars I fulfill my quest Across dark woods brooding and desolate lands of ice Guided by the ravens and radiant stars above Cast fear aside for bravery is forged in fire Hear the thundering drums of war in the distance Saddle the horse and gather your weapons Ride towards where the bronze horn calls for battle The wind whispers on this calm silent night As the clouds clear and reveal the astral might

The sky is black as wings of the raven The waxing moon casts shadows long Piercing howls and morbid screams echo through valleys and woodlands grim Death came at night and set the sky ablaze with axe, spear, sword and shield Swift as lightning, remorseless as winter's frost, riding on night’s black wings There is no peace, only cold death Stalking on the hour of the wolf Only a faint kiss of the blade to enter the eternal black

By great numbers we came and so few of us leave Taken by fire and flame to eternal sleep in the cold earth below Blood flows with the river and paints the skyline Land ravaged by fire and the souls now sleeping below Through hellscape in ashes I walk the soil that once grew green Through the crimson haze above I see the havens bleed with golden rays Blood flows with the river and paints the skyline Land ravaged by fire and the souls now sleeping below Ships and homes burned to cinder Land ravaged by the hatred of man

In the morning first daylight I gaze at the crimson dawn Like the fiery embers of last night’s fire where we sharpened our swords Blades of burning steel shall spill blood again With the might of winter a cold wind passes through the land In the shadows of midnight where we walk in secret as moonlight stains our swords Hearts of iron will Under northern twilight that light these barren lands Towards empty skyline the stars shall guide us on our path In these ancient forests as old as the sky and the sea The land awakens from the slumber of winter's remorseless grip Gods of land and sea watch from the sky above As we prepare for the trial of this cold winter day The coming of spring is felt in the haven bleeding with sunlight’s rays Awakened from cold sleep are the land and the sea In northern twilight we ride through barren lands Towards empty skyline the stars shall guide us on our path In the light of the day we write a story of triumph Whatever fate brings we face with wrath of iron Under clear and glaring sky the wind sings with victory Land of unforgiving winter awakens to the glory of day

Warmth of the day like embers on my skin With echoing thunder we gallop across the fields And the wind whispers memories of days gone past Now again with blades of shining steel we ride Snow white horizon shimmers with blinding light as the cold northerly wind blows in my hair And sight of the horizon brings memories of days gone past Now again in the sunlight's embrace we ride Like of the changing of seasons or the cycle of the day The wheel keeps turning as the warrior prevails In the wind and the rain I ride forever on With all my strength I scream to the eternal sky Faintest whisper Coldest rain Warmth of the sun
