Last Act Of Defiance
That final day has come to dawn I'm off to no-man's land Into the barbed-wire, into the smoke Where one's dreams turn to sand I look to the day when I'm back in your arms after the pain and misery of war When I look into your eyes and see your smile I know what I've been fighting for [chorus] I'm off to the front, you must not cry I'd die a thousand deaths before I'd live a lie Your love and trust in me is all I'd ever known Forget me not because one day I'm coming home Shattered dreams lay all around me yet my faith is strong To see the future of you and me keeps me carrying on You're in my thoughts day and night When I sleep you're in my dreams You're my sanity in this world of madness that's filled with cries and screams [repeat chorus] The train keeps on rolling to where many before me have fell For the blood and the glory and the sacrifice of a generation fighting in hell May I be brave as those before me Staring the shadow of death in the eye With passion and valor I'll stare in death's face for I'm not afraid to die [repeat chorus]

If you could see the things that my eyes have seen You'd get a better understanding of the things that motivate me I've been to many places, I've seen many scenes I've met so many faces, it all seems like a dream Wherever there is good, the bad always follow Those that live for today, and those that live for tomorrow The good times, the bad times, we've had our share You name the situation, and we've already been there [chorus] The good, the bad, and the ugly The tales, the actions and regrets The happiness, the pain and the anger And the faces I won't forget The good, the bad, and the ugly And the tangled webs we weave The fake, the true, the damned and the few Who have made us believe If you could only hear the things that I have heard From words of wisdom, to the strange and the absurd Tales of paranoia and a world of conspiracies Sick minds driven by greed and jealousy Worst part about it is when they voice themselves supreme Yet they're prostitutes to the media, a TV network's dream I stand apart from this crowd, for I know my identity well I'm just a voice with ideals, there's nothing I'm trying to sell [repeat chorus] I remember the days when it all began Young and defiant, I made my stand My heart was on fire, my fists were of stone All around the cities my presence was known My ideals and discipline kept me in line The words of my heroes sent chills down my spine Over a decade has passed and yet they still fear I haven't disappeared: I am still here Times have seemed to change Yet so many things remain the same There is so many things that I have learned So many pages that I have turned Faces are always changing, trying to play the part Yet the only movement I feel is the one inside my heart

So many things race through my head of the perils, the dreams of the life you led I've so many memories of you, my friend: you're in my thoughts with every tear I cry Only the good die young is the truth the sorrow of those that loved you is the proof How could you ever leave so soon? I keep asking why I think of the good times we shared: the laughing, the joking without a care I never knew the burdens you beared I never had the chance to say goodbye I really wish that I knew your pain I'd done anything to take it away There were so many things that I wanted to say There's so many questions; I keep asking why [chorus] So many fallen, so many lost Grips my heart like a September frost How many more brothers must we render come the turning of a Black September? You're in my heart, day and night You were a shooting star shining bright I never thought you'd fade away but all good things must come to an end I have to close the book on this tragedy I feel like I've lost a part of me Memories of you is all I've got left I know one day we'll meet again I know you're off to a better place soaring like an eagle with freedom and grace The wind to your back, the world is yours: you are finally free You are always a part of the family I need your spirit to look over me As the wheels of time keep on turning Nothing will fade the memories of you, my friend [repeat chorus]

Damned for the things I say Damned for the views I take Damned whether I'm wrong or right Damned for the way I live my life [sub-chorus] No matter what I do, no matter what I say: I'm always damned It doesn't seem to matter how honest I am I'm always damned [chorus] Damned by the church, damned by the state Damned by a world so full of hate Damned by the left, damned by the right Damned if I stand or walk from a fight Damned for the songs I sing Damned; my pride is a sinful thing Damned whether I'm mean or nice Damned for all of my sacrifice [repeat sub-chorus] [repeat chorus] Damned for the knowledge I know Damned for having a mind of my own Damned for what my eyes see Damned for my honor and dignity [repeat sub-chorus] [repeat chorus] Who are you to judge, who are you to condemn when you don't even know me? If my honesty and virtue makes me bad then damned I'll always be To hell with your church, to hell with your state to hell with the lies of this land To hell with all of you that paint me bad I don't give a damn

On a warm and sunny day in Wunsiedel I've come to pay my respects to you Sleep forever in peace, my friend You're an inspiration in everything I do You were an honest man that wanted peace To stop a brother's war For your mission of peace they locked you up And never opened the door [Chorus] Until I'm old and gray I will fight to clear your name Justice for Rudolph Hess We will never forget 46 Years in Hell (x3) May your spirit rest in peace You took the truth to the grave They called it "suicide" We all know you won the fight They couldn't rest until you died Just like you we won't give an inch The struggle for the truth continues today We'll show the world the hero you were No matter what the history books say [Chorus] I see you're loved, honored, and cherished By the flowers and candles on your grave From all over the world none have forgotten The price for freedom you paid You swore the oath, duty until death For 46 years they couldn't steal the pride It's 12 years later and none have forgotten That your ideals and spirit's alive

Awake from your sleep It's been a long slumber It's been over 50 years of the spell you've been under Awake o' Fatherland Destruction and prosperity-- you've seen it all Built the greatest empire, then seen it fall You stood alone against jealousy and hate The world couldn't stand to see you so great [repeat chorus] You were ravaged and torn, your will defiled Villanized by the world in a series of trials Now broken, they tried to drown you in guilt You picked up the pieces and now you've rebuilt [repeat chorus] Your citizens divided and families kept apart Divided by a wall built right through your heart Prisoners of twin evils, their fates were decided But then the wall fell and the people were reunited [repeat chorus] [repeat chorus] Awake from your sleep It's been a long slumber It's been over 50 years of the spell you've been under I look to the future, it's in your hands It's time to awake, my fatherland [repeat chorus] Awake, my fatherland

You and me, we go back a long time I remember the trials that we've been through Somewhere down the line you took a wrong turn I still can't believe that it's true How could you turn your back and live the life of something we were so strong against? You changed your colors on your friends I better not see you on my side of the fence [sub chorus] Keep snorting that shit up your nose Now you're just a wannabe in gangster clothes Still claim you're down yet you act like a monkey You can't fool us, Duane, you're just a junkie [chorus] You traded in your bomber for a starter While you were getting weak, I was getting harder I better not see you around the likes of me You're just another clown of misery You gave up your boots with your ideals, dropped your morals and turned to junk The fire in your eyes is forever gone From a proud white boy, you turned into a punk Was it really worth it? Losing it all? Turning from your friends into a life of crime You're the lowest of the low, everything I hate A traitor to your own kind [repeat sub chorus] [repeat chorus] I hear that you're looking decrepit; that you're all skin and bones You've got both legs up in a cast; and you're scared to leave your home You've ripped off one too many people and now you're up to your ears in debt And the last time that I saw you at Hardee's you ran like my little pet [repeat sub chorus] [repeat chorus]

I remember the day when we first met with your big eyes staring at me I said, "Don't you cry," as I cradled you in my arms By your side I'll always be From the womb to this world, you were given life Your saftey and warmth I'll oversee I can't help but smile on this glorious day for I know the gods have shined on me For I know the gods have shined on me My life has changed, and it's all for the best And it's all because of you I have been blessed, with the greatest gift of all A babe so fair and so true You're a part of me, and I'm a part of you Nothing will ever stand in our way Come with me, and I'll show you the world for you are the sunshine in my day Yeah, you are the sunshine in my day Nothing will ever keep us apart Yeah, you and me, we're joined at the heart Sleep now as I sing you this lullaby And when you wake I'll be right by your side You are the sunshine of my day (x4)

The battered knight stood upon the hill He catches his breath for a moment while everything is still He's battled for days; he knows he hasn't much left He knows his end is coming, yet he'll die with no regrets Against the injustices of his land He'll see the reigning guard die by his hand If he fails, at least he died trying For he ideals it was worth dying The farmer stood beside the knight Armed with a pitchfork and a scythe He didn't want to pay his taxes anymore He was sick of the rich feeding off the poor The collectors came and tried to rob him blind He refused to pay his taxes and they called it a crime He ran them off, sent them penniless without a thing He was the first man not to pay the king [chorus] It's the last act of defiance A union against the king and the crown Side by side they would die together United together to bring the system down Soon the duo formed an army To secure a future for their daughters and their sons They led a mutual revolt against authority To make the system come undone Many followed in their path Their courage to speak overcame their fears Droves of citizens, they all stepped forward From all over the countryside you could hear [repeat chorus] Together in unison they marched on the king With a roar, outlawed songs they would sing The revolt is in motion, they have to be brave For they'd rather die as free men than to live as slaves

There is so much venom in your eyes So many stories that turned to lies What makes you so superior when you can't even stand on your own two feet You condemn my world without seeing Is everything you hear worth believing? Your heart is as plastic as your appearance You'll melt as soon as you face the heat I'll tell you a little about what makes me go No tricks, no gimmicks, just heart and soul If you don't stand by honor and truth There is no way you are ever gonna win You paint this picture that you're strong and true You think the whole world evolves around you Yet your actions shatter your world because you have no discipline Chorus: Tolerance over, end of game, you change your face but you remain the same Haunted by the past again Trust is lost, never to return, you picked the wrong door and now you're burned This, this is the end I've seen your types come and go You float from town to town trying to run the show You call yourself a leader, I call you a hypocrite When I turn my back, in goes the knife Because my ideals are my way of life Your fashion and games are nothing to me, for I don't give a shit I've heard the critics both far and near All that matters is who's standing here I'll continue going against the grain, for I make my own rules Being true to my heart is all I've known Even if I'm the last man standing alone Then such it is and so it will be, because I will never follow fools (Repeat Chorus) x2 This, this is the end
