Awakening
The night is black with untold secrets But the light on the hill is growing Dark veils shuffle forth Beneath the full moon glowing Mount a cross in shallow earth Wreathed between trees swaying A gesture of cosmic deference But not a moment for praying Farewell my sanity Your tears are just a forgery These winds recall a memory Of a time addled fallacy (yeah) Thirty pieces of tainted silver And a kiss for old time’s sake Abandon reason in favor of treason In the shadow of the Snake A glass of absinthe to clear my head False visions green and enticing Devils summon me with Gabriel’s horn Frozen valley arising Deprived of all vitality Your siren call, pure sophistry A rising tide of malady Descending on the revelry (yeah)

I want to ask you a question The answer I may not like In all the things I've experienced Something I've yet to find He walks upon the land He is one with strife Floats on darkest waters Rediscovered life I want to pose you a question The answer may not be right Here there is an empty shell One day into one of the night He walks upon the land He is one with strife Floats on darkest waters Rediscovered life I haven't slept in years I haven't dreamt since birth When I first saw a light And fell onto the earth Eternal throne of sleep Is where he rests his bones Not to rejoice not to weep Not his but not disowned I am awake now I am awake now I am awake now I am awake now He walks upon the land He is one with strife Floats on darkest waters Rediscovered life I haven't slept in years I haven't dreamt since birth When I first saw a light And fell onto the earth Eternal throne of sleep Is where he rests his bones Not to rejoice not to weep Not his but not disowned

Where have you been? I couldn't find you in the firelight Lost in this sin, another kind of feeling tonight Reckless, but shy Invested, such pride Makes no difference to me I got the dark by my side Whom did you see? I want to know if they have opened their eyes Taken from me, another way of stealing tonight Restless, inside Entrusted, so right Makes no difference to me Cuz I've got you by my side Is this reality? Is it us, or just you and me? Addicted to fantasy We break into heresy He's meant to be alone You won't find him Made to follow home You won't guide him Will you believe? I have to know before the sun rises high Thousands of leaves, have fallen from the trees as winter presides Is this reality? Is it us, or just you and me? Addicted to fantasy We break into heresy Is this reality? Is it us, or just you and me? Addicted to fantasy We break into heresy

Washed up on a shore Framed between yesterday and nowhere A thousand bones maybe more Speaking in abject silence Stay close my child We’ll brave this rain Moonless sky overhead Hearts heavy with dread for tomorrow Do you envy the dead? Gods cry when even Death feels sorrow Sleep now my child We’ll brave this pain We wait for the dawn But the dawn waits for no one Yet here we stand Holding fire With the ash in my hand My hope’s raised higher The dreams of the past Shall fade in a whisper I want these embers to last Even if I’m a drifter We wait for the dawn But the dawn waits for no one Yet here we stand On this trail Though dust covers the land You will prevail A place you never knew Now words on a page Fear not my firedrake You’ll bring sun to this Age

A wave that pulls aside The fiery notions keeping one alive Compelling and divine One will not swallow a single crime Found in a strand of time A chance occurrence, inside another's mind They become intertwined One does not follow; she doesn't mind She does not mind A thought so deep It's got to be from somewhere else Played by the sea Without a sense of himself Lost in a strand of time Another occurrence, inside another's mind They become intertwined One cannot follow; she pays no mind She pays no mind Running to that place Of ghosts and brick and stone Alleyways and moonlight So small but not alone Feeling so heavy With demons on his shoulders Yet so enlightened and Never getting older Under a streetlight Thousands of years Cannot extradite A lifetime full of tears

Deep within these halls so white Two figures dance by candlelight Sun and Moon, their hands entwined Each step, a footprint in my mind Each mask conceals a face I know A stale, blank gaze with eyes aglow The music swells, then fades away Beneath the apex of decay “Consider this”, they stared and said Liberty is for the dead Lost in the gathering dust Frames surrounded by rust Gone were the days of trust Basking in the unjust Portraits, depicting the atrophy Of an everlasting fantasy Standing on the parlor floor A statue of forgotten lore Defiantly it beckons them Behold the princely diadem The words they speak are dark and bright Bereaved of their own sense of sight Lost within this maze of tempest Guided by their own unrest “Observe,” they said as one Will you remember When we’re gone? Lost in the gathering dust Frames surrounded by rust Gone were the days of trust Basking in the unjust Portraits, depicting the atrophy Of an everlasting fantasy
