Summer nights smolder hotter than before Warming seas creep closer with every changing tide Our home once lush and emerald Sprawling beneath a sapphire sky Blackened by smog, tarnished by greed Scorching life down to the seed Oh she warns us that our demise is nigh In willful ignorance we close our eyes When there’s nothing left to mine Time runs out to free this tortured Earth Though we look to the stars we have nowhere to go When there’s nothing left to burn We still have time to free this tortured Earth Stranded on this world with nowhere to go Blindly they watch the cataclysmic storms In twisted towers of glass that cut the sky Burning black gold looted from the soil Foundations fall as raging oceans rise Entranced by power, deceived by endless gain From spires above the searing rain With only profit on their minds They never stopped to question why When there’s nothing left to burn Time runs out to free this tortured Earth Though we look to the stars we have nowhere to go Witness our greatest crime Time runs out to free this tortured Earth Stranded on this world with nowhere to go As darkness falls survivors cling to life Scavenging beasts live by the knife Vacant city streets reek with the stench of death Disease and desolation are all that’s left Leafy tendrils strangle towers soaring high All human hope is lost as day fades to night Drowning cities left behind Time runs out to free this tortured Earth By our own faults we have nowhere to go Now there’s nothing left to mine How we failed to free this tortured Earth Hordes of rats feasting on the dead We did not act in time The fall of man will free this tortured Earth Shrouded in haze the stars give no hope There’s nothing left to burn We failed to free this tortured Earth Famine and torment feed our regret Stranded in this ruin with nowhere to go
