Rupture
Three trees, I see From walls illuminated I, the sole blood, I see One hoards silence One breathes flame One kneaded, stretched into bone The bay that once glittered Now reversed into a moon Of poisoned silver—floats plain Drinks shadows where the well’s mouth unhinges I, the sole blood My heart, a rusted piston Breathes in mechanical sighs— Insect legs traded for Quivering light in glass vessels

I yield, beneath my feet My small self in a grain of sand's eye Level days stretch unbroken— Joy, wind, slate of light Pigeons bearing weight Awaken effaced meaning Dawn arrives in the name of renewal Gathering fern to let weary rivers rest Let the king’s hands be cleansed of night Let the canvas be scraped to white Let the lakebeds subside Drown to forgetting’s spire Let the air I breathed sink stone-down Old dreams drown in silt and crown Lakebeds subside to core-fire And drown to forgetting’s spire Unfurl the avalanche’s might I will graft veins to tender light Hang still in starlit net cast— Be all still life held fast Holy oil flows through kingly palms Star-ash embers breathe their psalms Ascension cracks its own bones— May the Milky Way card veins of dust The rabbit, its child, the sire entwined
