So Legends Tell
Thank Heaven! The crisis The danger is past, And the lingering illness Is over at last And the fever called "living" Is conquered at last. Sadly, I know I am shorn of my strength, And no muscle I move As I lie at full length But no matter! I feel I am better at length. And I rest so composedly, Now, in my bed, That any beholder Might fancy me dead Might start at beholding me, Thinking me dead. The moaning and groaning, The sighing and sobbing, Are quieted now, With that horrible throbbing At heart: ah, that horrible, Horrible throbbing! The sickness, the nausea The pitiless pain Have ceased, with the fever That maddened my brain With the fever called "living" That burned in my brain. And oh! of all tortures That torture the worst Has abated - the terrible Torture of thirst For the naphthaline river Of passion accurst: I have drank of a water That quenches all thirst: Of a water that flows, With a lullaby sound, From a spring but a very few Feet underground From a cavern not very far Down underground. My tantalized spirit For now, while so quietly Here blandly reposes, Lying, it fancies Forgetting, or never A holier odor Regretting its roses About it, of pancies. She tenderly kissed me, For man never slept She fondly caressed, In a different bed And then I fell gently And, to sleep, you must slumber To sleep on her breast In just such a bed. The moaning and groaning, Have ceased with the fever The signing and sobbing, That maddened my brain Are quieted now, With the fever called "living" With the horrible throbbing That burned in my brain.

In heaven a spirit doth dwell "whose heart-strings are a lute" None sing so wildly well As the angel Israfel And they say "the starry choir And the other listening things" That Israfeli's fire Is owing to that lyre By which he sits and sings The trembling living wire Of those unusual strings (of Israfeli's fire) The ecstasies above With thy burning measures suit Thy grief, thy joy, thy hate, thy love With the fervor of thy lute Well may the stars be mute! In heaven A spirit doth dwell Whose heart-strings are a lute None sings So wildly well As the angel Israfel Therefore, thou art not wrong Israfeli, who despisest And unpassioned song To thee the Laurels belong Best bard, because the wisest! Merrily live, and long! Yes, heaven is thine; but this Is a world of sweets and sours Our flowers are merely-flowers And the shadow of thy perfect bliss Is the sunshine (of ours) And they say... The ecstasies above With thy burning measures suit Thy grief, thy joy, thy hate, thy love With the fervor of thy lute With the fervor of thy lute Well may the stars be mute

'Twas noontide of summer And mid-time of night And stars, in their orbits shone pale, thro' the light Of the brighter, cold moon 'Mid planets her slaves Herself in the heavens Her beam on the waves I gaz'd awhile on her old smile Too cold - too cold for me Of the brighter... There pass'd, as a shroud A fleecy cloud And I turn'd away to thee Proud evening star In thy glory afar And dearer thy beam shall be For you to my heart is the proud part Thou bearest in heav'n at night And more I admire thy distant fire Than that colder, lowly light And I turn'd away to thee Proud evening star

The landscape embracing me And my flower has withered All is blackened In the sight of my eyes Now my cry will arise... and wake me I witness my feelings While the clouds rise We're missing life Am I aimed to die? The breathing sky starts to crawl The lonely path leads as till death The life wish I ride across my hand Before, the unknown land ...now I'm really dying The fear inside of me makes me warm A glorious end and I'll arise Feeling it crawl is feeling a sense of death But the unknown land is... fear Have you ever cross your fear And turned back to stare What is left is your agony now is gone And you can breathe on free...

We live in a time of dumb wish Where the pride of a soul fades away Values once worth being observed Appear now empty my eyes before You're living your life clear and still Unaware of the hostility outside The wish and the dreams now you feel In the goblet of sin erupt they will Shed your soul inside my staring sight Fling open a doron my bewildered heart So close to me, cling your mouth to the goblet of sin Time is rolling, sliding in your hands Gently moist of our passion Being showed in a whirl, where our feelings Get gathered in a marriage of chaos I've been staring at your virginity for ages So thirsty to get enraptured in the goblet of sin "So bewildered in every moment foreign to the surrounding time your soul is so easily close to fall... Pray of a morbid thought which keeps latent but grows in your emotions your sight, your piercing glance, your movements" The dreams and the wish now you live Life's a mirror of what you can feel Shed your soul... Adoring your pain with flowers In the wall of your subconscious Feeling like a drowning in mood Catching the blaze of life In the goblet of sin all your pride was swallowed Tears are flowing on your face this joy is new for you The relief of the goblet, the taste of the sin Hyperbolical feeligns, ensnaring passion Drink deep in the goblet of sin 'til your life will vomitate your purity

When someone dies His soul and his dreams do not vanish As they breathe on in ours Like a drop of rain Falling in the wide ocean Gathers to the eternal choir of waves As they breathe on in us Gathers to the eternal choir of waves Like a drop of rain in the ocean Like the clouds of bygone times Never reveals their waters Jealous of their load So my mind retains longingly the memories of those... who shared my emotion Jealous of its load so my mind retains the memories Like a drop of rain in the ocean and they live on... on... on I bright the flames of the ancient Withering but immortal remembering Like the roots spread their vital limph To the yellowing pulsing leaf Spreading my vital limph To the ancient living Remembering Like a drop of rain in the ocean And they live on...

The sun burns his blood, grabbing life for his life Whispering his rays to the air, forever shining... His majesty on his throne, ruling the land of fate Unaware of his state, the man believes on In an evening dawn sadness and melancholy Only light may arouse my soul In my draems the dawn is dark, as an awakening night The sun is gloomy and the light - so unperceivable Darkening... infinity In a time of sadness even the white rose shine forever The dawn this time... so timeless mixed with the night Blindness in my eyes lit by an evening dawn Contradictions in my joys eternal feelings in my heart The azure sky so far from my sight So melancholic in this gloomy dawn Loudless cry for a burning soul Ascending to field of heaven The eternal time of dark Embracing the realm of whiteness Lit my breathing soul Obscurity and unkonwnledge Shining head my mind... so sadly Restless in my eternal search For an end, for a light, for a life Embraced in darkness, enchanted by light Am I left to die? The dark light is blinding my fears The bright nothing arouses my joys Darkening... infinity In a time of sadness... In an evening dawn... The sun burns his blood, ruling the land of fate Whispering his raise to the air, the man believes on In an evening dawn
