Bleak
Staring into pale light A shift in perspective Grand paradox It left me breathless To realize the nature of it all The fear that came 'long with it I lost my faith with time And when clouds block the sun You will see Everything, anything The way you want it to be What a terrible day for rain I heard her cry out for me Through the downpour Through her deeply medicated sleep But honestly I knew she wouldn't be there anymore And tears would well in his eyes Every day that he would have to stay inside So fragile was that reality

The bastard son Running away from his origins His words fell on deaf ears But his actions never went unseen My God, what have you done? Renounce your deeds of flesh and blood Throughout this life's trek of detest Any glimmer of hope bereft Squint and sneer Peering through this fucking haze I call my life My God, where have you gone? I've revealed your great facade Cold Embrace, give way To the warmth of day Certainty Lost with age Everything appears to have changed

Toss and turn Fully aware Anxiously, I lie awake Anxiously, I anticipate The break of dawn Yearning for those fleeting moments of serenity Before bleak hopelessness devours me Leaving their homes with no intention to grow Following a trail covered in snow Bury my bones beneath the dirt and stone Rest my head among the withered and dead Yearning for those fleeting moments of serenity Before bleak hopelessness devours me Cascading thoughts washing over me Ill-conceived misanthropy Is this not what you taught me? Drowning in monotony Wretched pest I mourn the minds that you infest With your every single waking breath Dripping sweat He drives a dagger into it's chest I can see a faint glow in the distance Glinting flame Dimly illuminating a hidden path As we draw near

Gazing at nostalgic old photographs The corners bent, the image scratched Beginning to wish I could turn the clock back Retracing my lifes path Trapped behind a veil of mind I said come back to me when this is through Because I wore rose-colored glasses When thinking of you Lay upon your bed of sunflowers Recounting all that you had I've spent so much time Glaring at the mirror Wasted life Wasting breath on lies I tell myself To feel everything's alright Don't blame me I'm not sorry Will your illness ever fade? I can't stay I must turn and walk away I am over-encumbered with apathy Don't hold your breath You know I won't be coming back What can you say, and who will you blame?
