Verse 1: An operation to dominate To lay claim to an ocean History recorded a failure A stunning and decisive blow The attackers sent to the bottom In ships they'd never replace Turning point in the pacific This time could turn their way Verse 2: Dropped into the heat of the battle Zerding on the target Enemy cruiser burning below One more run to take her down Torpedoes are released in the water Racing to punch through the hull Impact delivered no detonation One more ship still in the fight Chorus: Through a life that's been sacrificed For a home that's far beyond reach Time and battles come and gone In this lifetime of war Is there no hope for escape? Verse 1: Few walk through this valley of death Most fall before the line All bodies are treated the same Lifeless bones lost in time Tanks lay there like slain beasts Their metal left to rust Battle remains are bleached in the sun Slowly turning to dust Chorus: Beneath a sky that never darkens We fought across the top of hell Until only two were left to fight We shook the ground and fell upon this withered earth Bridge: Blood dries with the dust and blows away Hot winds cleansing a desert Sounds of battle fade to silence Maybe the war goes on below A life lay injured and dying in the field An ancient who has survived A choice to run or save the enemy Can I leave him to die? Verse 2: A tale from another time He tells of a future war When they drove us into space And claimed the earth for their own Ending that war ends this one too Ancients fight by my side Somewhere in time they will join me My only chance to make it home alive
