How will you measure your value? A self-absorbed enlightenment Words of worth have become slander and deceit. Open up your eyes We were meant for so much more. Have we lost ourselves? Forged from providence but so far gone. Assail me and tear me in your anger All was once well with me, but I've led myself here My pride pulls. Constantly beckoning me to be something that I'm not If I say: "My hope is in the grave" and to corruption, "You're my father." To the worm, "You're my mother" if my hope is in the grave, then what is left for me? "Did you forget what it takes to walk away? And did you forget I will never take you past the palm of My hand?" And I am overcome. What miserable comforters in the arms of sorrow With every wound sanctity diminished. With every scar I feel my soul retreat Oh earth, do not cover my blood May my cries never be laid to rest But if I speak, my pain will not be relieved, and if I refrain, it does not go away "Did you forget why I've put you here? And do you even want to know what it means to be alive?" Have we forgotten? And what will be left? ..the pull of my pride takes me away

Where have You gone? And where am I without you This heart that once burned with hope won't beat without your mercy Wash away all of this, bring me back to You So here I remain, so far away There is nothing at all that can bring be back to You But my own will, but my own heart, my own hands But is it too little too late? Hollow To be without the One that brought us here Meaningless Rip the roots from the ground to lay down foundations bound to crumble Generations will come and go but the earth will remain Swallow lies as you construct compensations for truth Trading in our souls for white washed figures and towering symbols of our progress. We're all chasing the wind But it's all in vain. The same fate will overtake us all in the end The workforce marching, hearts heavy as stone For the same fate overtakes us all And I have walked every mile, and upturned every stone. I've indulged every urge And bowed at the altar of greed Just to find that all of this is meaningless What is there left for men to do with the little time we have? Denying ourselves nothing we desire. We are counting down the days until we've reached our final hour. Nothing will be gained under the sun I have seen, all things forged must come undone I have surveyed all my hands have done And when we pass we leave everything behind I have walked every mile, and upturned every stone. There is nowhere to turn, I have nowhere to go They've burned down the bridges and boarded up the doors So I'll make my escape with feathers, wax and string Fly far from this place, 'til there's nothing left to see It's so far, down to the ground What awaits for me? I long for things unseen Your warnings fail I would rather die than never try Now watch me climb and climb and climb... And with the wind at my feet The clouds become the ground I sense the folly in my ways It weighs me down, weighs me down (so far down) These wings can't hold me up! But these wings cannot fail me! They have taken me this far Father! You have blessed me with these hands Though they are calloused and they are scarred You have blessed me with these hands But they are destined to let me down Dare I heed the warnings that you've given? Ransom my hope. Set me free And set my eyes to see what you have in store for me I'm on the edge of all of this, captured by selfishness But offering my one last breath to ransom my faithfulness With our hands we have ravaged the world Time and time again, I have drowned in affliction A shell of a man. Come, now child! All of this is temporary: I am merely a vessel bearing this curse And I can only run for so long Come now Lord, your dwelling place is now with men Send your rain, then open up the sky! They say you're coming soon, but Lord, it's been so long I'm starting to lose sight The solace of licking my wounds has led me to compromise my faith In all you stood to create There's no sun or moon, for You will burn so bright We will become shadows in the warmth of your light I'm tired of being so thin, so in need of constant reassurance to fill the holes in my chest, and I'm cracking, I'm finally breaking.
